Deion Sanders has doubled down on his “no-home visit” recruitment style. So, the hope for Deion Sanders to change his mind, even after getting a long list of reasons not to do so, seems quite far-fetched. The trials at convincing Coach Prime are flaring up the football experts’ world as they give their best shot at highlighting how the recruiting style, mainly dependent on transfer portals, is doing Buffs more harm than good. Almost as their last shot at convincing Coach Prime amidst the rising backlash, a former Bengals WR came to the rescue in the latest episode of SPEAK.

“Everybody knows these kids want their b*tts kissed. I just don’t see it being a feasible long term that you not going to do any home visits because ‘I’m Deion Sanders,'” TJ Houshmandzadeh retorted back to Deion Sanders’ reason behind his no off-campus recruitment policy. “I can’t do things that other coaches do because I’m Deion Sanders,” Coach Prime had uttered while explaining why he did not hit the road to make recruits.

Other reasons included Deion Sanders’s desire to save the university money and satisfy his inner business acumen. Sanders and Co. get a contracted budget of $200,00 and a private jet to make these recruits by CU, which they have yet to spend a penny on from the allotted funds.

Prime also believes parents don’t want Prime Time in their house, invading their privacy. Deion Sanders turns into a proud dad for showing off the Boulder campus. “I want them to see this, and how beautiful it is and why I am so eager and how much I love this city and this state and this team,” Sanders said about inviting the kids and their parents to see Boulder. Despite all the reasons making a seemingly fair point, why are the football experts against Prime relying heavily on the transfer portal? Philip Dukes has the perfect explanation for it.

Why is no off-campus policy not working for Deion Sanders and Co.?

The whole “recruiting only four-star and five-star guys” isn’t working out in favor of Deion Sanders, as Philip Dukes predicted in his interview with On3’s Andy Staples. “They’re not the Day 1 starter, and even if you go if he were to sign a class full of five stars you still don’t guarantee that these guys come in ready to play,” Dukes highlighted, further empowering the point Houshmandzadeh was trying to prove. The shiny new five-star recruits come with their requirements and conditions, expecting them to be fulfilled. The solution for this per Dukes? “Really good three stars, almost four stars, on a consistent basis.”

That’s where the real question is. Will Deion Sanders'”Master Class on how to build a hype machine with absolutely zero substance or results,” as Travis May of AZ Sports calls it, accept the flaw? Or will they continue their strategy and sign up for another losing season, as the analysts have predicted? Well, the highly acclaimed strategy did not seem to work wonders last season when the Buffs suffered a humiliating 1-8 record after their initial 3 wins. Colorado is one of just five power conference programs with zero commits for the 2025 recruiting class. So, which side do you pick? Sanders or the experts?
