The prospective top pick of the NFL Draft is a fanboy of Michael Jordan just like any of us. Caleb Williams, the quarterback for the USC Trojans, is a part of all discussions related to the top QB prospects but when it comes to the mentality of it all, he has nobody except the Bulls’ legend to look up to.
Caleb Williams had astounding stats last season. Though the Trojans couldn’t make it into the top 4 CFP spots, Williams proved himself as one of the best quarterbacks in the NCAA. He threw out over 3,633 passing yards and finished a total of 30 touchdowns. Behind all of the talent, Williams has always looked up to Michael Jordan as his role model. And now that he might be heading to a Chicago team just like the basketball legend, he vouches to set the same standards as MJ used to during his time.

In the latest clip from Caleb Williams’ NFL Combine interview, the quarterback talked about his chances of ending up with the Chicago Bears, which is the most likely situation since the Bears have the number 1 Draft pick. It is interesting to note that Chicago procured one of the greats of sports- Michael Jordan, whom Williams has always looked up to his entire career. Additionally, Jordan is considered far and wide, the best player of basketball, and was a 6-time national champion with the Chicago Bulls. And when it comes to the NFL, the Browns are an extension of the Chicago legacy, one that Williams will try his best to live up to as he tries to fill out the shoes of Michael Jordan.

When asked if he would want to implement Jordan’s way of playing mentality if he ends up in Chicago, Williams had a pretty straightforward answer. He said, “I’d say anywhere I go, that’s my standard. That’s what I play for, as ya’ll saw. I don’t play for fame, I don’t play for money, I don’t play for jewels, things like that. You know, just to go out there and win as many games as possible, be the best that I can. My plan is if I can be my best and play as many games as possible at my best, I think I can reach certain points like that.” Thus, the number 1 overall QB prospect might just be the NFL’s next Michael Jordan if he ends up in Chicago. With all that said, the fans have continuously compared Williams to the supposed next Brady in the NFL, Patrick Mahomes, and here’s what the USC coach Lincoln Riley had to say about it.
USC Head Coach claims that Williams and Mahomes have the same tools
It’s no breaking news that in the NFL, players are always being pitted against each other, always being compared. So when it comes to the best quarterback in the NFL and who could replace him, Mahomes and Williams respectively had to be a part of that conversation. Though both players are miles apart from each other in career stats, USC coach Lincoln Riley doesn’t think the comparison is too far-fetched.

He said, “Caleb certainly has some of the same physical tools, which is exciting because there’s not many people that have that. But certainly, to continue to climb to a guy to like his level, there’s going to be a big process there. I certainly wouldn’t put it past him. Excited, hopefully, he can end up in a great situation and take advantage of it anywhere to the level that Pat has done.” Now that Williams is entering the NFL with a bang, the fans expect him to be the next Patrick Mahomes as he tries to simply “win all the games” just like the legendary Jordan once did.
