The Texas A&M Aggies have their sights set on Coach Prime to take on the mantle of head coach. The 56-year-old NFL Hall of Famer has been in the headlines since signing on with the Buffs on a 5-year contract this season. With his determined personality and powerful words, he’s been one of the more popular coaches in the NCAA. Though his team hasn’t had the best season, he is one of the candidates that the Texas A&M Aggies will be focusing on.
The Texas Aggies recently terminated the contract with Jimbo Fisher after a disappointing string of losses. The contract, which was supposed to end in 2031, was cut short when the news of his exit was announced this week. Fisher will be receiving a valuable buyout of $76 million, and thus, he won’t be leaving with a frown. The Texas team is looking at several coaches, including the likes of Mike Elko, Dan Lanning, Mike Norvell, etc., but Deion Sanders’ name is rather interesting because it’s unclear whether he’d even be interested in leaving his beloved Colorado team.
This is why Deion Sanders will probably not take up the job at the Texas Aggies

Deion Sanders is on the radar of the Texas team to replace their former HC, Jimbo Fisher. The coach for the Colorado Buffaloes has been one of the most influential coaches in the NCAA this season. Despite a poor record of 4-6, he has demonstrated his vigor as a leader, thus putting him on the list of some of the sought-after coaches for the Texas A&M Aggies. But with both of his sons returning to the Colorado team for another year, will Coach Prime even entertain the possibility of not coaching his sons?
Keyshawn Johnson, one of the hosts on the Undisputed show, said, “How much money is enough to leave my sons at Colorado and abandon them and go coaching in Texas because they can’t leave and there is not enough money on this earth for Prime to do that?” Thus, while he’s part of all the rumors, it seems highly unlikely that Coach Prime will desert his sons for a coaching job at the Texas A&M Aggies. But the question remains: who will end up taking the job and joining the men in maroon?
Who are the leading frontrunners for the Texas Aggies HC position?
As of now, there are three contenders that the Texas team would be heavily interested in. The leading choice for the HC position is currently Mike Elko, the head coach for the Duke Blue Devils. He’s had a superb season with his team and currently holds a record of 6-4. He was the defensive coordinator for the Texas team from 2018 to 2021, and thus, his signing would mark the return of the prodigal son.
If I'm Texas A&M, I'm going after Mike Elko to be my next head coach

– Fits what they need (winning structure)

Dan Lanning, the coach for the Oregon Ducks, is also on the list, but it would be difficult to steal him away from his team. Besides, Lanning has a buyout clause of $20 million, and it’s unsure if the Texas team is willing to spend that much money on him. Lastly, Mike Norvell, the coach for the Florida State team, is a figure who is one of the best in the league, but it doesn’t seem as if he’s interested in leaving the Seminoles anytime soon. As the games draw near, the fans can’t wait to see who ends up signing with the team after all.
