Cormani McClain’s arrival in Florida, despite his past behavior in Colorado, has sparked a glimmer of hope. 247 Sports analyst Carl Reed Jr. sees untapped potential in the young player, emphasizing the need for growth and maturity.  “I think that he had you know at times grow struggles which a lot of young kids have,” he said. Reed’s unfiltered thoughts, while tough, are laced with optimism, “I will call him to my office and I will say, listen ‘I need you to do something for me. I need you to log off the internet and I need you to really lock in. I need you to get tight with three people — your position coach, the strength and conditioning coach, and whoever trains with you and works with you in your off-season skill development.”

Given his past issues, McClain must follow this strict advice to succeed in Florida. Reed further stressed, “People are going to come for you in this age until you play well.” Thus, only football practice can silence critics and not online arguments. “You have an opportunity right now going to the Florida Gators,” Reed concluded, echoing the sentiments of many fans who believe in his potential.

Cormani McClain’s journey to the Florida Gators seems almost destined, as they were his top contender even before he committed to Colorado. The team even created a commitment video for him a year ago, which finally saw the light of day in May 2024. More than destiny, it’s a perfect match, as the Gators already have depth in their defensive backfield. Now McClain’s superstar potential and speed could just elevate their game.

However, the primary concern remains his behavior, and Gators columnist Nick de la Torre echoed the same with a firmer tone. He stated, “You can’t force somebody to grow up and mature. You can bring them into the right situation. The old saying – you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink.
