The rumors of tension between Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter are quickly being dispelled. While there’s a strong bond between the two, it was Deion Sanders Jr. who stepped in to defend his brother Shedeur. This was prompted by Hunter’s playful teasing, as captured in snippets from the Buffs’ practice session by Well Off Media.

As Colorado’s dual-threat and Bucky engage in friendly banter with Shedeur as the center of attention, it’s clear that Hunter and Shedeur are pushing each other to excel. This is the culmination of their college football journey and the start of a new chapter in the NFL. In 2025, these Buffs stars will be on different teams, potentially sparking a thrilling rivalry. They are both highly touted as the top prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The Buffs are in the midst of their summer practice, and the atmosphere is one of camaraderie and fun. Despite the previous season’s disappointment, the Colorado squad is moving forward with high hopes. The interaction between Hunter and Shedeur is proof of this, with Bucky capturing the lighthearted moments. When it was Shedeur’s turn for the running drills, he sprinted past the bars. But when Bucky turned the camera toward Hunter, the versatile Buffs player couldn’t resist a playful jab at Shedeur.

Referring to Drake’s lyrics, the two-way star passed a mocking jab, “BBL Drizzy they said. I too got that BBL Drizzy.” Deion Jr. immediately pitched in to stand in Shedeur’s defense, “Talking about my brother like that?” The next joke that Hunter comes up with is, “Y’all both went the same doctor, trade two different moves,” and Bucky carries on with, “You want to refer us to the doctor?” Even though Shedeur and Hunter tried their best not to allow their rivalry to come to the forefront, the reality is something else.

Looking ahead toward the Shedeur-Hunter NFL transition

Although Deion Jr. considers his brother the best in college football, the scenario is different. The quarterback failed to get a breakthrough as EA Sports College Football 25 dropped its cover. Instead, it was Hunter who found himself lucky to be the first Buff in Colorado’s history to get featured on the game cover. The dual-threat emerges as a top prospect for Deion Sanders’ program, especially after Shedeur ended the last season as the most-sacked player.

The poor records, some feel, are believed to be affecting the transition that Shedeur and Hunter will be involved in soon. With both the players’ journey in college football coming to an end, the next big step is the 2025 NFL Draft. According to Chris Trapasso’s mock draft, Hunter is believed to have landed before Shedeur.

Even though there exists an unsaid competition between Hunter and Shedeur, both Deion Sanders and Buffs Governor Camden Dempsey clarified that a strong bond is what dominates between the two and not rivalry. If so, the powerful duo will work jointly toward making this season a grand success for the Colorado Buffaloes.
