CJ Baxter, the talented RB of the Texas Longhorns, is out of the season because of a serious knee injury. The news was shared by the coach Steve Sarkisian. It’s not good news for the Longhorns by any means. But with CJ gone now, they already seem to have found someone to replace him. On August 10th, in the first scrimmage of preseason camp, it was evident who would be replacing CJ in the coming season.

Steve shattered the dry recruiting myth

Longhorns have been the talk of the talk. There are two major reasons for that, the first being the wonderful players like Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning, and the second being their slow recruiting process.

When everyone including Alabama and Georgia were receiving big 5-star commitments, the Longhorns were very cool about it. Even during the peak recruiting time, Steve Sarkisian did not take a lot of load. In July, during the Texas High School Coaches Association Convention, Steve said, “I’ve never been one to panic in recruiting.” Well, why should he worry when he has one of the best teams to help him out throughout?

The kind of talent that the Longhorns have got was visible in the 1st scrimmage of the preseason. The highlights were shared on X via, Inside Texas on August 11, showing how freshmen were fearless during the practice, even after CJ was gone.

The first scrimmage of the preseason camp of the Texas Longhorns took place on August 10th but it was closed to the media. With CJ Baxter taking the leave, who did we all expect to come in and replace him? It was none other than Jaydon Blue. For a fact, when CJ suffered the injury, the very same day, Jaydon was named to the watch list for the Doak Walker Award. He is too good a player.

And yes, as expected during the scrimmage, Jaydon, along with Tre Wisner who is a sophomore, took the first and second-team reps as RB for the Longhorns. They are coming out too good, and with that, a lot is expected from the Longhorns this season.

What is expected out of the Longhorns in the 2024 season?

Talking about the RB situation, Jaydon Blue and Tre Wisner are there to help Steve out. Then moving on, if we talk about the QB situation, the Longhorns have Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning, and they both are needed. Even though Quinn Ewers has declared his 2024 NLF Draft, he would want to show how worthy of a player he is before he leaves.

Longhorns have a strong team, with Jaydon or Colin Page to start the season behind Quinn Ewers. With Steve Sarkisian being cool about the recruitment phase, and bringing in strong players to replace CJ Baxter, the roadmap is set. And with that, the excitement is so over the top. Let us see what is yet to come.
