Jason Whitlock goes off on Deion Sanders yet again after his recent achievement. The Colorado Buffaloes have had a rollercoaster ride this season. They ended their run with a last-minute loss to the Utah team by a score of 23-17. But even after such a disappointing performance from the team throughout, it seems as if Deion is still receiving his share of accolades.
There’s no doubt about the fact that Coach Prime has been one of the most influential figures in this year’s edition of the NCAA. His words of wisdom and the ability to lead his team have been nothing short of inspiring. But even the Buffs’ fans think that Deion becoming Sports Illustrated’s 2023 Sportsperson of the Year is a bit of a stretch compared to his coaching failures. With such a perfect opportunity, Whitlock didn’t hold back when it came to criticizing Deion.

The Colorado Buffaloes ended up in the last position in the Big Ten League with a shocking record of 4-8. Therefore, it didn’t make sense as to how Deion ended up being the Sportsperson of the Year with such a poor performance. In the latest episode of the Jason Whitlock show, they talk about the incident that has had the fans in an uproar.
Jason said, ” I’m shocked and they did the photo shoot when they were four and six but my sense of self-worth and self-esteem wouldn’t have accepted the award or the recognition if I’m Deion Sanders. He’s making a mockery of people that have actually earned that and and he hasn’t legitimately earned it. I wouldn’t accept it. I blame Deion for accepting it.” It’s obvious that Jason as well as the fans aren’t too happy with the decision of the Sports Illustrated magazine. But Deion still has to be given his share of the flowers for the sort of heart his team displayed throughout the season. Here’s a look at the Buffaloes’ journey from being a fan favorite to the last ranked team on the table.
Deion Sanders and his Buffaloes’ season summarized
The Colorado Buffaloes managed to wow the NCAA league when they managed to win their first game against the TCU Horned Frogs. After that, they won two more games, and it felt like Deion actually had a playoff team on his hands. But unfortunately, that was the last taste of glory that the two-time Super Bowl winner would get to have.

After that, the team lost all of their games except against the Arizona team. During their season, Shedeur Sanders was involved in his share of controversies when he flexed his watch to the Arizona fans and got heavily criticized for it. Deion desperately tried to revive his team from the ashes, but it was too late, and had to end up at the bottom of the barrel. Coach Prime’s team managed to change the program as a whole compared to last year’s season, when they stood at an insane record of 1-11. Thus, even with all of his failures, Deion has proved that he’s a legitimate coach who was able to garner a few moments of victory in his debut season.
