Shedeur Sanders might have gotten roasted online for his “everybody’s Super Bowl” comment last week. But that’s not the situation anymore!
During the Big 12 media day, the Buffaloes quarterback confidently spoke about the hype surrounding his team. “I already know what the expectations comes with. I know we’re everybody Superbowl,” he ‘over-confidently’ declared. This raised eyebrows considering their 4-8 record last season. Now, the internet wasn’t kind either, filling up with jokes and criticism.
But amidst all the jabs, something surprising happened. Shedeur earned some major respect from a rival quarterback – Noah Fifita from the Arizona Wildcats! Fifita faced Sanders on the field in November last year and clearly saw something special.

“He’s (Shedeur) special,” Fifita told the Coloradoan. “That’s a generational talent for sure. Just watching him and the things that he does, he’s very competitive. I know people don’t like some of his tactics, but as a competitor myself, I love it,” Fifita noted.
Now, despite playing with a weak offensive line and getting sacked a whopping 52 times, Shedeur put up a tough fight against Fifita. Even though Fifita’s team won, it was a neck-to-neck fight with a 34-31 score. In fact, several platforms like 247 Sports rank Shedeur as the #1 quarterback in the Big 12, with Fifita right behind him at #2, despite the loss.

This sets the stage for an epic rematch on October 19th in Arizona this year, where the Buffaloes face the Wildcats. With praise coming from the #2 QB in the Big 12, the hype is already building. And guess what? Fifita isn’t the only one singing Shedeur’s praises.
Shedeur Sanders’ “Super Bowl” talk receives thumbs-up
Soon after, Shedeur’s ambitious words, the internet wasn’t exactly cheering, but some voices jumped to his defense. Andy Staples from On3 offered a clever take: “You think he’s wrong? But he’s not.” He noted how every team wants to knock them off because of Deion Sanders’ hype. Well, Deion’s marketing magic has turned Colorado into a media magnet, making a win against them a major spotlight opportunity. The numbers prove it all – the Oregon vs. Buffaloes game last year became ESPN’s most-watched college game with 10.4 million viewers!

Even former quarterback Robert Griffin III backed Shedeur’s words too. “HE [shedeur] IS CORRECT, if you take the time to understand what he meant,” he said. RG3 elaborated, “Every team that played Colorado last year played their hardest against them because they knew everyone was watching and it was their opportunity to shine in front of the masses.” Thus, they truly create a Super Bowl kind of hype.
Now, with Deion building the hype machine, Shedeur’s confidence is also soaring. He’s not just the Big 12’s top QB. Having completed around 70% of his passes, EA Sports, too, ranked him the #1 overall quarterback in the nation. Maybe Shedeur’s “Super Bowl” talk wasn’t so ambitious after all!
