The tussle between soccer and the NFL is as old as time, even for Pat McAfee. However, today the soccer spirit inside the NFL analyst broke free as he announced that left the fans shell-shocked and equally thrilled at the same time. ‘The CONCAFA soccer club’ is the latest venture of Pat McAfee, rather, the latest team of his, set to enter the fields the next season.
Sharing the news first with JJ Watt in his show, the Pat McAfee show, the little child inside McAfee could hardly be controlled while revealing the news. The CONCAFA team will compete in the 7v7 tournament this summer with a $1 million prize.

The die-hard Pat McAfee or the JJ Watt fans might have seen this coming since the two had a heated debate as Watt told a McAfee show star to ‘sort their own teams out’. Watt and his wife joined the Burnley FC stable in 2023, and since then he has held it close to his heart. However, the Clarets were not the best performers this season with their 19th rank in the Premier League with just eight points emerging from two wins in the whole season.
It was only natural for ESPN’s Connor to comment on how down-bad the Burnley was.“And just taking a peak (at the standings) here, Burnley is six feet under already, this might be time to…” Conner was saying, just when Watt cut him off and interjected. “Hey Connor, maybe figure your own teams out before you start talking about other people’s teams,” Watt said, referring to the Patriots, whom Connor is a huge fan of.
Circling back to McAfee and his love for soccer, it isn’t a taste the NFL analyst has developed recently, it is something that he has been cherishing since his pre-NFL days.

Pat McAfee and soccer
In his appearance with Peyton Manning for Omaha production, McAfee discussed why he ditched the soccer ball for the pigskin ball to become a punter. “When I was born I just had a rocket attached to my right hip. I used to play soccer. Instead of running seven miles to kick the ball, I decided to do it with three steps,” he confessed.

Later, McAfee also roasted Peyton Manning for his punting skills on the same show. Who knew that after so many years, McAfee would again go down the path of running 3 miles to kick the ball after retiring from the NFL several years ago due to recurring injuries? What do you think Pat McAfee would do? Drop your thoughts in the comments.
