The pride of Alabama and an even bigger dynasty to college football, Nick Saban, was the recipient of a glorious award at the ESPY show. While he’s had a team of rugged men around him his whole coaching career whenever he’s collected trophies, this time, it was his stylish family that surrounded him in one of the Alabama coach’s proudest moments.

Nick Saban, the former head coach for the Alabama Crimson Tide, led the team to glory for over 16 years and helped them bring in a total of 6 championships. Now that’s a legacy that has and might just be unmatched for a long time yet to come. During this period, he made the Crimson Tide a force to be reckoned with rather than just a team. The dominant run of Saban’s leadership is a bar that has been set in the college coaching world and now that he’s retired, the crown will wear heavy on the likes of Kalen DeBoer and all those who will come after him. As such, he was awarded with the prestigious Icon Award and his daughter gave him his flowers for it too.

Kristen Saban praises father’s legacy after he wins big at the ESPY Awards

On 12th July, Kristen Saban took to Instagram to show off her stunning all-black dress that she wore at the ESPYS’ Red Carpet, where her father, Nick Saban was honored with the Icon Award. Moreover, in the entirety of college football, there has never been a coach like Nick Saban to don the hat thus, making it a deserving award for the old-school veteran.

Saban was surrounded by his family on his special night and looked rather dashing himself in a sleek tuxedo. Kristen penned down a beautiful note for his achievement and captioned the post with, “An ICONIC evening. Congratulations to my dad for receiving the Icon Award at last night’s ESPYS. Being able to be here with him to watch him take the stage was a dream. We are so proud of you, Sabes. This is just the beginning of your new dominant chapter. Roll Tide.” Thus, the HC received his due credit last night and even gave an endearing accepting speech, that the fans appreciated a lot about the moment. Moreover, Saban went on to emphasise the importance of family and their sacrifices in his acceptance speech which goes to show how much he values their support and love.

Nick Saban expresses immense gratitude for family

During Saban’s acceptance speech, he went on a long rant about how he’s been lucky enough to have dealt with players with a sheer determination to win, and tahnked them heartfully for making his reputation what it is today. But for a coach that spent over 16 years in Alabama, it surely had to take a toll on the family as well and in Saban’s words, they had to move over 17 times in the entirety of his coaching career. Thus, proving that his family has had his back throughout the years of glory and Saban wasn’t too forgetful to thank them in his speech. 

Saban shared a beautiful moment with his wife, Miss Terry, who he mentioned specifically in his speech and also went on to talk about the compromises all of his loved ones made for him. He said, “You have to have great support from your family. Miss Terry’s been the love of my life for 52 years and she has supported me in every way as my family has and I certainly appreciate that because there’s a lot of sacrifices families make in coaching.” Thus, now that Saban will spend the rest of his life away from a football field and witness it all from the stands, the family can also take pride in knowing that their patience and devotion played a major part in making Nick Saban the legend that he is today.
