Deion Sanders and Skip Bayless’s friendship has aged like fine wine. Right from their Dallas days, the two have kindled something genuine, out of true appreciation for each other. Now as Deion Sanders finds himself at a precarious crossroads in his life as a head coach of the Colorado program that went 4-8 in its previous season, Skip Bayless’ support is the one he can count on. Well, now that Deion Sanders is all prepared for his grand Big 12 debut, with his motto “We comin’” and revamped roster taking center stage, Skip Bayless is having the time of his life in shutting up the Deion Sanders detractors. Even if it means attacking the favorite head coaches of his co-hosts.

During his 25 June episode of Undisputed, his co-host Keyshawn Johnson and Bayless were arguing about why Deion Sanders failed in the 2023 season. Johnson straight up said, “They didn’t play, so they left.” That did it for Skip Bayless as his thin patience broke and he quipped to Johnson about the CFB head coach he admires: USC’s Lincoln Riley. “We’re not talking about some stinking Lincoln Riley.”

Now that is the type of doubling down we’re talking about. Not only did Skip Bayless shut Johnson up with this, but he also gave another sizzle in the ongoing ‘We want JuJu race’ between Deion Sanders and Lincoln Riley. Julian Lewis, the five-star prospect out of Carrollton High School, who committed to USC in April, paid Deion Sanders and Co. an official visit between Jun 21-23.

Before he visited Colorado, Lewis had confidently said that he was “still locked in with USC,” the reason for it being only Coach Riley, as Lewis’ father confirmed. However, after concluding his Colorado visit, Lewis is yet to make a statement. And this is not the only way Bayless is supporting Deion Sanders. He is sticking right by his side through thick and thin.

Skip Bayless stands up for Deion Sanders’ son

Right around the time the NFL 2024 draft concluded, the talks of Deion Sanders’ son Shedeur Sanders, declaring for the 2025 NFL draft, started swirling. Since then, mock draft analysts have not been too kind to Shedeur, often portraying him as someone ‘who does not look like a first-rounder’.

However, Deion Sanders’ old friends have jumped right to his defense as all of them have just one thing to say loud and proud: “Shedeur Sanders would be the first draft pick in 2025.” While Shannon Sharpe, Chad Johnson, and Skip Bayless have already agreed upon this in their podcasts, Skip Bayless had something else to add about Shedeur Sanders in his recent episode as well.

Bayless called Shedeur Sanders “not just the best QB in that conference, but he’s the best QB in the country.” The reason for this is his analysis of Shedeur as a QB. “Big arm, can move, tough as anybody I’ve ever seen…” Bayless iterated about his prediction of Shedeur Sanders. Whether Bayless’s prediction of Shedeur turns out to be true or not will only be known in 2025, his genuine admiration for Deion Sanders needs no proof.
