The Colorado Buffaloes program has adopted a new motto: to be the best. The drive for excellence is exemplified by Travis Hunter, a dual threat for the Buffaloes, who is determined to prove his superiority. His adversity in this quest is Kaleb Mathis, the Colorado wide receiver.
The topic is the confusion regarding who caught a pass. While Mathis thinks he is the one, Hunter, who is more of a “bully,” seeks to prove his supremacy. Was this bullying a payback for Mathis, as earlier he passed a nepotism joke on Hunter’s close pal, Shedeur Sanders?

The temperature inside the Colorado Buffaloes locker room rose sharply. Wondering why? It was due to a heated confrontation between Mathis and Hunter regarding the catch. While Mathis tried to claim the credit, Hunter refused to allow any of it. The wide receiver claimed, “What I’ll leave my case bro when I came out the break I was open I swear to everything I love I ran eight steps out the break before I could even before the balls.” It was right at that moment when Hunter interrupted, saying, “Hey wait wait wait he had a dig he ran it too fast that ain’t got nothing to do with him it wasn’t a dig.”
However, Mathis did not give up, continuing: “Wait I said you blur or you ran with.” But nothing seemed to work out as, at last, Hunter proved his supremacy, daring the wide receiver to shut up, “And guess who caught the ball? Me. So shut your a*s up.” Hunter’s reaction to Mathis might be the repercussion of how the wide receiver addressed Shedeur, even though it was a friendly banter regarding “nepotism.”

Mathis teases Shedeur with the nepotism joke
Well Off Media captured Mathis and Shedeur’s lighthearted banter a week or two ago. At the lunch table, the players struck up a conversation while enjoying a hearty buffet of brisket fried chicken, shrimp, and other sumptuous items. Then, the Buffs QB passed a mocking jab at Mathis, asking him, “You know who his dad is? It’s Coach Mathis. His dad a coach.”

The wide receiver took no time to hit back at Shedeur because of Mathis’ instant reply, “You know who his dad is? Deion Sanders.” As they shared hearty laughter, the conversation continued as Mathis pulled the nepotism card, “They say play for your dad [Deion Sanders].” From the conversation, it was clear that Shedeur and Mathis shared a strong bond. It might result from the connections between their fathers, as Kaleb’s dad, Kevin Mathis, served under Deion Sanders back at Jackson State.
Even though Kaleb had no intention to demean Shedeur, it might be possible that Travis took his role as the quarterback’s ulterior protector too seriously. If this is the case, Hunter bullying Mathis further dismisses the speculations of the cold war between Shedeur and Hunter.
