Blake Corum is on a high. The running back, who isn’t just finding success in the NFL, has an ardent supporter in Michigan’s Sherrone Moore

There is talk about Corum’s exceptional performance during the Rams’ OTAs, with head coach Sean McVay speaking highly of him. “On the offensive side, I’ve been pleased with a lot of guys but Blake Corum has really stood out,” McVay said. He highlighted Corum’s maturity beyond his years and his impressive way of handling himself on the field. “I love even more how when there’s been a couple of things that didn’t go the way we wanted, how he responded the next play. The mental toughness that you see from him,” McVay added.

Despite expectations of joining his former head coach, Jim Harbaugh, at the Los Angeles Chargers, the NFL draft surprised Corum. He became a rookie sensation for the Rams after being drafted 83rd overall.

These words of praise have found a receptive audience in none other than Corum’s former coach, Sherrone Moore. Moore posted an Instagram story, proudly reposting McVay’s statement alongside a picture of Corum in his “new blue” Rams uniform.

This wasn’t a one-off incident. Moore, being a true Maize and Blue fan at heart, has been doing it for other players, too. The day before, the Michigan head coach had done the same for his former quarterback, McCarthy, sharing a picture of him in his new Vikings jersey. It seems Moore is more than just a coach; he’s a proud guide, offering passionate hype for his former players as they start their new journeys.

Nevertheless, Corum may bring Moore closer to seeing McVay’s prediction come true.

Sherrone Moore’s pre-draft hype fructifies for Blake Corum

Back in March, Sherrone Moore was actively hyping Corum up to elevate his draft stock. During the NFL Combine meet, Moore praised Corum’s “elite status” as a player, letting the film speak for itself. His confidence spilled over as he listed Corum’s strengths:  “Contact, balance, strength, breakaway speed, short-yardage back, pass protection. All the things you want—make a big play, take over a game.”

Moore also spoke highly of Corum’s off-field qualities: “Off the field, he’s a tremendous leader, a tremendous ambassador for the community.” He even jokingly added his approval for a “Blake Corum type of person” as a potential boyfriend for his daughters. These high-powered praises seem to echo in Sean McVay’s words, too.

This positive assessment was also echoed in Sean McVay’s words. Moore predicted Corum could become even stronger mentally and physically, and it seems that Corum is now living up to that hype on the NFL field.
