Sherrone Moore might have received one of the finest praises in his journey as a Michigan head coach! Even before appearing in the regular season, Sherrone Moore is already compiling praises for his head coaching duties at Michigan. What made the words all too special was the person whom they were coming from: Nick Saban. To Moore’s surprise, Nick Saban, the best coach in the history of CFB, chipped in his bit and it was not what Moore expected. Neither was what Jim Harbaugh was expecting.

A normal praise or two about his ways might be what the Michigan head coach anticipated, but Saban gave him a full-fledged title. Nick Saban hailed Moore as “the best coach O-Line in the country,” as the reporter mentioned in Moore’s press conference, at Wayne State National Showcase satellite camp on Thursday, uploaded on The Wolverines YouTube channel. Fans quickly noticed how Saban subtly ignored all the accomplishments Jim Harbaugh achieved as a Michigan head coach. All the efforts, the National Championship, and the blemish-free 15-0 record of Michigan were all overlooked as Moore was hailed the best coach.

Moore, on the other hand, appeared flattered by the statement since he didn’t know Saban’s words. “That’s an awesome statement from arguably the best college coach in college history. So means a lot means a lot to me. Means a lot to the players but ultimately to me,” Moore said, reacting to Saban’s words, once he could contain his flattered feeling.

Since the praise has come from Nick Saban, it would be even more important for Moore to prove himself as “the best head coach O-Line in the country” once the season starts. To worsen the scenario for him, most seasoned players like JJ McCarthy and Zack Zinter have switched to the NFL. To stay on track, Moore would need to assemble all Avengers he finds, something that he has already been working on.

Sherrone Moore talks Michigan transfer additions

In the same interview, Moore gave a highly awaited update on the transfer portal. The Wolverines have brought in four new defensive backs from the transfer portal this spring. They are expected to be on campus in the coming days, providing a good secondary depth to the roster. The Michigan HC also made some fine additions to the staff.

Moore also brought some much-needed limelight to the junior defensive tackles Kenneth Grant and Mason Graham. They arguably make up for the top interior defensive line duo in the nation. With all the time they had in the off-season, Moore is thrilled for them to unravel their seasoned side on the field.

Speaking in terms of high school recruits, the year was a flop game for the Wolverines. Not only were no prospects ranked inside the top 40 nationally, but the Wolverines lost their shot at having CJ Carr, the grandson of legendary former Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr, on board.

Carr was a huge miss to Notre Dame, as he was a top in-state prospect for Michigan, especially when he shared such a deep bond with Michigan. Moore and Co. could only get their hands on in-state No. 4 Brady Prieskorn (Rochester Adams) and No. 7 Jacob Oden (Harper Woods). Prieskorn and Oden being their only beacons of hope now, Michigan has high expectations from them.
