Before his stint at Michigan, Mary served as the Wolverines’ linebacker coach during the COVID-affected 2020 season. His coaching prowess extended to a powerful recruiting stance since he played a crucial role in molding linebacker Josh Ross into a defensive powerhouse. As informed in the YouTube video, “He coached Josh Ross to a team lead 53 tackles.”
Mary propelled Ross into the right path and steered the linebacker to eighth place in the Big 10 as he boasted an impressive 8.8 tackles per game. Other than Ross, Mary’s tenure at Michigan saw him play a pivotal role in acquiring the commitment of a promising talent Junior Colson in 2021. Harbaugh served as a source of big support for the Wolverines and his departure has shaken the entire program. Hence, for Moore, it takes a lot of hard work and devotion to initiate the recruitment process and hire entities who would benefit the program as Harbaugh and his coaching roster had. With defensive backs coach Steve Clinkscale reportedly losing ties with Michigan, Moore has been eyeing hiring Sean Magee, who has been working as the Chief of Staff for the Chicago Bears.
Apart from the coaches, Harbaugh’s exit has greatly impacted Moore’s players list. Following Clinkscale decision to leave the Wolverines, 4-star recruit, Jaden Smith pleaded for release from NIL. To tackle the situation, the current cornerback coach for Toledo Rockets, Corey Parker seems to allure Moore. Since Parker hails from the Detroit area, it has been assumed that he will play a major role in terms of recruitment owing to his coaching experience since 2006.
