Is Sherrone Moore the key to Michigan's recruiting revival, or just a flash in the pan?

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. We all saw Philip Wright take his commitment back from Michigan and go with LSU today August 10th and just a few hours later, On3 blesses us with amazing news. After Jim Harbaugh left the Wolverines and went on to start coaching the Chargers, all responsibilities fell on the new HC Sherrone Moore. The biggest question that came from this change was is Moore capable of mimicking what Harbaugh had done for the team? After getting beaten down to 2-4 back in 2020, Moore took over the O-line of the team and restored the confidence of the Wolverines. That’s what made him the perfect pick after Harbaugh and today he proves again why he is the right choice.

On3 took to X on August 10th to reveal that Moore has managed to secure 4-star CB Jayden Sanders on the team. “BREAKING🚨 4-star CB Jayden Sanders has committed to Michigan,” On3 mentioned in their post. This is a big deal. Sanders is regarded as the No.27 cornerback by On3 and the No.203 prospect nationally. The kid has also expressed that the main reason he decided to join the Wolverines is the development they offer for their players. Further, even 247Sports regarded Sanders as a “Bona fide Power Four prospect in the secondary.” It ain’t no wonder why 247Sports has sung high praise about Sanders. He is the son of Nick Sanders who was the DB for TCU. With him, the team had finished 12-1 during the 2009 Fiesta Bowl. Also, Sanders stands as Michigan’s 10th-best recruit for the 2025 recruiting class.

This lessens the worries for the Wolverine fans a bit. Things have been rough for Moore & Co. recently. However, now with Sanders on board, it’s safe to say that the team has a solid defense this time around. Still, some worries might keep Sherrone Moore up at night. We all know about the sign-stealing allegations that were raised against Jim Harbaugh and his staff back in 2023. Harbaugh had also received a game ban but Wolverines still managed to grab the championship. However, the new draft report by the NCAA reveals facts that can cause trouble for the team.

While the investigation is still underway, the draft report has revealed that Moore was found deleting texts between him and Conner Stallions. Stallions, while removed from Michigan, was considered as the main culprit behind the sign-stealing case. Many have already shown their hate for Harbaugh, Moore, and Michigan. Dan Beyer, back on August 4th, on Fox Sports Radio, mentioned, “They had the cheat codes. The Big 10 wimped out.” Beyer’s point was that the staff and the team should have received a much harsher punishment than just a small ban.

Have an interesting take?

The draft report marks Moore as a repeat violator. With multiple rule breaks during COVID-19 and even charges revolving around scouting opponents before matches, Moore could easily look forward to a suspension. However, if the investigation finds him guilty on all the charges then it could mean a show-cause penalty for the HC. This would render him jobless from any NCAA college. Regardless, let’s see what awaits the Wolverines in the future.
