Warde Manuel, the Donald R. Shepherd Director of Athletics, announced a strategic investment through a new agreement with Altius Sports Partners and the expansion of Learfield relationships, aiming to empower Michigan’s student-athletes in the NIL landscape. Altius Sports Partners, renowned for advising collegiate athletics departments, will oversee the recruitment and management of an in-house NIL executive general manager (EGM). Michigan’s athletics department and this EGM’s collab will educate stakeholders, enhance the existing NIL program, and raise awareness within the business community.

Michigan’s participation in the Altius Sports Partners GM Program, launched in July 2022, underscores its commitment to tailored NIL education and support. Additionally, Learfield’s extensive partnership with Michigan Athletics, dating back to 2001, highlights the university’s strategic approach to NIL growth and development.

Through collaborations with industry-leading brands and innovative activations, Michigan Athletics remains at the forefront of NIL innovation while prioritizing student-athlete empowerment and academic success. With Jim Harbaugh‘s departure to the NFL, Michigan’s coaching staff has undergone significant changes. Head coach Sherrone Moore is now actively searching for a replacement for secondary coach Steve Clinkscale as well as a new defensive line coach. For the latter, Greg Scruggs, formerly of Wisconsin, may be an option. Known for his coaching acumen and recruiting skills, he might be able to fill the gap left by Mike Elston.

Lamar Morgan, with experience as a defensive coordinator at Louisiana, brings valuable knowledge of the Ravens’ defensive system and could potentially serve as co-defensive coordinator and secondary coach, adding depth to Michigan’s coaching lineup.
