Before the recent internet buzz, it was coach Jim Harbaugh who set the bar high for JJ McCarthy’s NFL career. Not only did McCarthy lead the Wolverines to an undefeated 15-0 season and a championship, but Harbaugh also praised him as “the greatest quarterback in University of Michigan history.” He even drew a parallel to Tom Brady, stating, “I think the last quarterback to win in overtime against Alabama was none other than Tom Brady.” This comparison made people excited to see if JJ McCarthy could achieve the same level of success as Brady in the NFL.

McCarthy has a long way to go to reach Brady’s GOAT status in the NFL, but for now, he got a great head start with some valuable advice from the legend himself. During the Sunday meeting, Brady advised the rookies to focus on teamwork instead of “making it too much about I and me.” He shared his own approach, explaining how he “treated a regular game like it was a Super Bowl,” so that when the actual Super Bowl arrived, “it was just another day.” Thus the encounter with Brady gave McCarthy not only a cool photo with a legend but also some valuable insights to kickstart his rookie journey in the Minnesota Vikings off-right.
