Sherrone Moore faces a new challenge this offseason. After a championship win, he is pressured to fill Jim Harbaugh’s coaching shoes. Meanwhile, Moore brought in some big-name coaches like Martindale, Campbell, and Alford. This has silenced a lot of the criticism about the team’s direction. However, there are still some hurdles to clear. The team lost their star quarterback, J.J. McCarthy, to the draft, which is a big blow to their offense.

Likewise, they also need to find someone to replace Zak Zinter on the offensive line. Though he missed the playoffs, Zinter was crucial to Michigan’s recent success. Now, Moore is set on a potential replacement from Wylie E. Groves High School.

Gach can likely step in as Zak Zinter’s replacement

Wylie E. Groves High School junior Avery Gach is a top recruit, attracting offers from Division 1 universities and over 20 Power-5 scholarships. This makes him a history-maker in both Groves and district records. Now, Michigan coach Sherrone Moore aims to add this four-star offensive lineman to the team’s roster. A Michigan recruiting analyst recently posted Gach’s performance at the Rising Stars Academy. Also, reports indicate that “Sherrone Moore and Grant Newsome have made Gach a top priority this cycle.”

Michigan OL Zak Zinter earned an NFL combine invite despite severe leg injuries. Though unable to participate in drills, he shared positive recovery updates with interested teams. He played a key role in Michigan’s award-winning offensive line. Sherrone Moore eyeing Avery as a replacement for him shows that the head coach is on the right path.
