The whole Sanders family is celebrating Deiondra today! Well, all except two of its members. Deion Sanders as well as his sons have shared blessings for Deiondra bringing a son into the household, and yet her sister and stepmother, Shelomi and Pilar Sanders, respectively, seem to share some animosity with the rest of the family at the moment.

From announcing themselves as a couple during the Christmas season in December to having a son born to them on the same day as Deion Sanders’ birthday, the couple of Deiondra-Jacquees have come a long way. The entirety of the family has been all smiles ever since Deiondra’s pregnancy was revealed in March, but Pilar and Shelomi’s radio silence makes it feel like they haven’t been too happy about the limelight that Deion’s eldest has received all this while.

Shelomi and Pilar Sanders continue their silence for Deiondra

Ever since Deiondra and Jacquees came out to the public as a couple, there have been rows of controversies against their name as well. Jacquees was accused of several “cheating” stories by former love interests, throughout which Deiondra held her own and battled it all off. Yet, in none of these incidents, did her sister or stepmother come out to publicly support her.

What’s more interesting to note is that during the spectacle that was Deiondra’s baby shower, neither Shelomi nor Pilar were present to extend their blessings to the family. Pilar’s sons, both Shedeur and Shilo, have expressed great enthusiasm for Deiondra and Jacquees’ newborn son, and the Colorado QB was even heard saying, “We are uncles, yeah. It’s really exciting. My sister, I just got the text that she had a child.” 

Even Shilo commented on how proud he is of his sister and said, “He’s nice. He’s healthy. I’ve seen him on FaceTime. I’m proud of her.” It looks like there is a wave of drama going on between the two ladies and the rest of the house, something that might’ve taken birth ever since the conflict between Deion and Shelomi occurred over her transfer from the CU women’s basketball team.

It is safe to say that Deion’s sons are more of the athletic stars than Shelomi is, since she didn’t see a lot of success on her basketball team last year. In Colorado, she played for a total of five minutes and scored a 3-pointer against the Air Force. She was yet to be a part of the starting squad but chose to enter the transfer portal, which is what caused her fight with Deion Sanders. Shelomi is now playing with the Alabama A&M under HC Dawn Thornton with the support of Pilar Sanders.

During an appearance on the DNVR Buffs show, Deion was asked about his opinion on Shelomi’s transfer, and he called it “stupid.” Deion further added, “You get a team before you enter the portal. That’s what I would advise a child. Where I come from and historically, kids follow their parents. When do parents start following their kids? That doesn’t work in my book. That does not work where I am from. I am the leader of the family; I have been dictating where my kids go, not them dictating where I go.” These affirmations of Deion being a “leader” didn’t sit too right with his ex-wife, Pilar, who also dished it back to the Buffs’ HC.

Pilar took to her YouTube channel to defend Shelomi’s decision to transfer and also slam Deion’s take on her future. She said, “Stop talking about a present parent. Don’t make me say more than I have to say. Stop talking about being a present parent.” The tensions between the mother-daughter and Deion are rough at the moment, which could very well be the reason why they’ve chosen to stay out of all these family gatherings and, by extension, keep their space from Deiondra and her newborn son.
