Watch out college football world! Buffaloes’ QB Shedeur Sanders is roaring through his workouts. As posted by CU’s Assistant Atheltic Trainer, Laurean Askevold, the Buffs QB was spotted in beast mode. But what happened suddenly? All of this transpired after Skip Bayless tagged Shedeur as the “best”. Here comes a further twist to the tale.

Receiving the tag from Bayless fueled his rival, UCF QB KJ Jefferson, who has now pinned up Shedeur’s picture in his locker room. Is it because Jefferson looks up to him as an inspiration, or is it a constant reminder to trounce him?

Never in his wildest dreams did Bayless imagine that his comment on Shedeur would give rise to such a hoopla. On June 27, the analyst dropped the comment, “Shedeur is not just the best QB in that conference, but he’s the best QB in the country.” Ever since the Buffs QB rose to the spotlight, rival QB Jefferson entered the chat.

Like Shedeur, he too wants to climb the ladder of success and took a printout of the Buffs QB with Bayless’ quote printed below it for his locker. This act by the UCF QB was enough to fire up Shedeur Sanders’ enthusiasm to live up to Bayless’ expectations of being the “best”. And his efforts did not go unnoticed in the IG story posted by CU’s Assistant Atheltic Trainer

Askevold posted the clip on IG showing the QB in a deserted gym doing single leg hop reps from side to side. It’s good that Shedeur took Jefferson’s locker room antics positively and in a way to oomph up his physical stamina and fitness. Interestingly, no matter how much Shedeur and Jefferson try to vie for top-dog status, they both are in the same stormy boat.

Sanders and Jefferson’s rocky path to NFL

In college football, the QB position is the most important. The pressure it carries is enormous since it can make or break your season. To top the list is Deion’s son, Shedeur, who is perhaps in the hot mess of a moment. All kudos to the hype surrounding him as he enters the last lap of college football and is projected to be one of the top picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. As he is lugging around the weight of everyone’s hopes, the sack-o-meter is giving him the heebie-jeebies as he ended up with 52 sacks last season.

Panning to Jefferson, the UCF QB was projected to be a mid-round pick in the NFL draft. But these plans went awry when he tripped last season with the Arkansas Razorbacks, which concluded with him hopping onto the UCF bus. Taking the 2024 scouting report into consideration, Jefferson will need a turbocharged upgrade in his neck up approach, followed by reading defenses and key pre-snap.

Last season, the Heisman Trophy candidate Shedeur passed for 3,230 yards, 27 touchdowns, and three interceptions and now holds the top position in Big 12 QB rankings. As Jefferson occupies the 5th position in the ranking, he carries with him a statistics of 7,923 passing yards and 88 total touchdowns. Now it is to be seen whose ambition rockets them to achieve the ultimate snicker!
