As the 2024 season approaches, the biggest race for teams to win glory and for star players, the Heisman Trophy, has started. But the tables might turn, as football is as unpredictable. Speculations suggest that Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, who have been regarded ahead in the Heisman race, might lack this time.

The CFB Home list also reveals that Shedeur and Travis are being snubbed from the Heisman race, with someone else taking the lead. Will the tables turn?

On August 3, CFB Home released its current Heisman odds on their official X account. The odds came out as a shock to many as Shedeur and Travis’s names were not visible in the 9 spots. That Shedeur and Travis are coached by none other than Deion Sanders and the fact that they have worked hard for the team and themselves missing out on the list raises many questions. The top spot was secured by Dillion Gabriel, a QB who gained fame during his time at UCF and then later transferred to Oklahoma. The question is, can he really beat Travis and Shedeur?

Shedeur completed 298 of his 430 passes last year with 3,230 yards. The fact that the offensive line has improved this year for Colorado, Shedeur might end up performing even better than how he was last year. Shedeur and Dillion are both quarterbacks. Talking of Gabriel, he is going to start the 2024 season for Oregon as maybe the most experienced QB in all of college football. He now stands sixth in NCAA history in passing yards and he just needs another 4,352 yards to leave Houston’s Case Keenum, who stands at the No. 1 position. Though Gabriel never had a 4,000-yard season, this 2024 season might be the one to get him there.

Heisman is unpredictable

Remember the last two seasons, with Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels winning? They were the first two Heisman winners since 2016 when Lamar Jackson won while his team did not make the playoffs. Well, anything is possible when it comes to the Heisman. The number of candidates will also increase, and for that, we can thank the expansion of the College Football Playoff to 12 teams. More teams means more stakes, which means more Heisman moments to enjoy!

From the Rockies, we have the very notable Shedeur Sanders. If he keeps up the wins to match his status, he could be in New York. Gabriel also hopes to follow the path of Bo Nix, who was in third spot last year. Let’s hope that the best player wins!
