The tables have turned — and how! Shedeur Sanders is in the midst of a controversy involving his head-coach dad, who allegedly “threatened” Buffs players into attending a Lil Wayne concert on campus where the quarterback also performed.

This fueled rumors of “daddy ball” prioritizing family interests over the team.

A recent Well Off Media video has thrown a wrench into the so-called false narrative. Many Buffaloes players denied feeling forced to attend, and Shedeur himself joined the chorus. The QB downplayed his role and knowledge of the event. “Hey, bro that crazy cuz we didn’t even know we going to perform bro. How we decide 5 minutes,” he said, claiming the performance was an impromptu one.

He stated, “Dad ain’t even know we going to perform,” refuting rumors of Deion’s forceful tactics. Deion Sanders Jr., who was filming the scene, also chimed in saying, “I definitely didn’t know” either.

Apparently, Shedeur was performing his debut single that night, and the alleged mandatory attendance sparked outrage. Some players even reportedly entered the transfer portal claiming it’s “nothing but a huge distraction.”

Shedeur even added, “cuz they messed up the lights bro,” suggesting the poor lighting made it difficult for anyone to tell who was performing. He suggested that people learned about his own performance by watching clips from Deion Jr.’s video.

Shedeur’s claims are raising doubts, even though it’s uncertain that Deion forced players to attend. It’s difficult to comprehend how a performer could be unaware of their own planned debut. It seems like he’s changing his tune on what he said before.

Did Shedeur Sanders pull a surprise rap?

Deion’s staff and even the university governor have come forward, denying reports that players were “threatened” to attend the Lil Wayne concert to support Shedeur’s rap debut. These statements paint Deion in a more positive light. However, Shedeur’s recent claim throws a twist. He insists his performance was a last-minute decision, which contradicts his earlier confidence about the event.

In a previous interview back in April, when asked about performing at a “town show or concert,” Shedeur confidently stated, “Concert! I doing a Town Show? what that I look like? My music ain’t good enough to be at least open-up the show?” He even expressed concerns about being a “one-hit wonder” and needing more than just one song.

This previous statement clashes with his current claim of having no knowledge about the performance. In fact, Shedeur did perform his song “Perfect Timing” for the first time at the April 27th event, followed by its official release on May 16th. While the music received mixed reviews, it seems Shedeur’s performance itself has become another source of mixed reactions.
