Is Shedeur Sanders' Super Bowl talk setting up Colorado for a major letdown this season?

Will the Buffaloes roar into a Bowl Game, or will their season fizzle? Coach Prime is getting a sneak peek at his upcoming Big 12 season thanks to analyst JD Pickell of On3.

Pickell bravely predicted the outcome of every game on Colorado’s schedule, and it paints a picture of a rollercoaster ride.

The season starts with a promising win against North Dakota, but then the Buffs face a potential upset by the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Things pick up again with a three-game winning streak against Colorado State, Baylor, and Central Florida. However, expecting these wins might be a bit optimistic — especially considering trouncing Central Florida is no easy feat.

Now, October is a mixed bag. Pickell says that “Kansas State is probably a touch or two too physical for Colorado,” predicting a loss to Kansas State, but sees victories over Arizona and Cincinnati. The next schedule, however, is brutal. “Now this stretch is tough here in November,” the analyst says, predicting a four-game losing streak. “I think you lose at Texas Tech, lose at Utah, at Kansas, and against Oklahoma State to finish with a record of 6-6.”

Here’s the silver lining — despite the harrowing ending, Pickell believes the Buffaloes will still snag a coveted bowl berth in Deion Sanders’ second year at Colorado. A 6-6 season might be enough for a bowl game, but it wouldn’t exactly live up to Shedeur Sanders’ bold Super Bowl claim.

But the biggest worry is the last few games, which feel like their losing streak at the end of last season. With these predictions, Deion and Shedeur are starting to see a clearer picture of what they’re up against. However, Shedeur’s Super Bowl claims seem a bit high!

Coach Prime faces reality check after Shedeur’s hype

Shedeur Sanders got the Colorado hype train rolling at Big 12 media day! He embraced the media frenzy surrounding the Buffs, saying, “I already know what the expectation comes with. I know we’re everybody’s Super Bowl.” He even threw in some trash talk, bragging about his undefeated record in the SWAC.

Soon, Shedeur’s words sparked debate. Some even agreed that Colorado’s national attention made them everyone’s target. Former quarterback Robert Griffin III pointed out that Colorado even broke TV viewership records last year despite a disappointing 4-8 finish. Their blowout loss to Oregon drew a staggering 10 million viewers! Thus, everyone sees them as their Super Bowl, their chance to shine. But here’s the rub: wins matter more than views. Coach JB threw some cold water on Shedeur’s talk, saying last week, “You’re not everybody’s Super Bowl, bro… I don’t believe real programs give a  f**k about you.”

With these harsh realities and predictions of a repeat of last season, Coach Prime’s Bowl Game dreams might need some serious adjustments. Can the Buffs rewrite their story and turn hype into wins?
