Shedeur Sanders has not just touched millions of hearts with his on-field talents, but his off-the-field antics have become quite popular with millennials. It has been trending so much so that Shedeur’s imitation even landed at something as serious as a graduation ceremony. With this, the Colorado Buffaloes’ quarterback sensation has widened his impact. Even though this time it did not land Shedeur or the graduating student in trouble, the player has not been lucky all the time. Now that he has escaped, Deion Sanders’ son chose to make the day even more special for the student through his Instagram story.

Tuesday seemed to be an already special day for the graduate from Colorado. But she chose to take it to a notch higher by choosing to mimic the sports idol for many, Shedeur Sanders. As she made her way to the stage and received her degree, to celebrate the moment, she imitated Shedeur’s signature move of flexing his wristwatch. Little did she know that her efforts would not go unnoticed, as Shedeur made the day even more special by sharing the clip on his Instagram story. The Colorado graduate was thrilled enough at Shedeur’s generous act and further reposted the story with the caption, “pov shedeur sanders supports you graduating”.
Shedeur, for the first time, started the watch flexing tradition during Buffaloes’ match against Nebraska after the players stepped on the Folsom Field Colorado logo during practice. It took off the next week after their double overtime victory against Colorado State. As the QB took it personally when Rams’ HC Jay Norvell dissed Coach Prime, a frustrated Shedeur later revealed, “I was just waiting the whole time to put a watch on ‘em.” Hence Shedeur’s flexing watch antics show his move to prove his critics wrong and ask them to look at where he is.

The secret behind Shedeur’s exclusive timepiece
The root of this tradition and love for a watch have been passed down to Shedeur by his father. Deion Sanders was known for his flashy Rolex back in his playing days. In an interview, Coach Prime passed a mocking jab at Shedeur, claiming his son needs a deal now and he can’t keep showing off his $70K watch.

As the price mentions, there has to be something exclusive about the timepiece. It contains more than 30 carats of diamonds that were drilled into it by a jeweler in Florida. Shedeur has also been spotted wearing the Royal Oak watch, which cost about $30,000 from Swiss manufacturer Audemars Piguet. However, this watch is different, as Jacksonville jeweler Saki Mihalakos customized it by adding glittering jewels. Shedeur’s “watch flex” move reminds football fans what white quarterback Johnny Manziel did 10 years ago when he flashed his “money sign”.
Even though the millennials and Gen Z are going gaga over Shedeur’s watch flex, it did not go well with many. While to some it might be “cool”, there prevails another batch to whom the quarterback’s move came off as a “classless” and “genius marketing move”.
