As Shedeur Sanders gears up for the 2025 NFL draft, where does he actually stand as a QB? Well, for Uncle Neely, in the same circle as legendary QBs like Patrick Mahomes and even the GOAT Tom Brady. The early mock draft analysts might beg to differ from the opinion since they do not think of the Buffs QB even as a first-rounder. However, Uncle Neely has his fair reasons to say so.

During his podcast with Adam Munsterteiger on The Pregame Network aired on June 21, 2024, the two went back and forth about why Shedeur Sanders is a ‘generational talent‘. On the show, the host Uncle Neely wanted to clear out the meaning of an offense being tailored per a QB and debunk the myth surrounding Pat Shurmur ‘hooking up’ Shedeur Sanders. “They translate that into Daddy Ball,” Uncle Neely said, keeping in mind the current allegations on Deion Sanders related to Shedeur’s concert.

However, that’s not true, especially when there is a ‘once-in-a-generation QB’ like Shedeur Sanders, per Uncle Neely, on the roster. “It’s the same thing the Patriots did with Brady. It’s the same thing they do in Kansas City with Mahomes. Anytime you have that level of a quarterback, everything is built around them and that’s the case here Colorado,The Pregame Network’s host explained, putting Shedeur Sanders in the same league as Mahomes and Brady. Now that Uncle Neely has made a comparison, a deeper dive into their stats would give a clearer idea about the narrative.

Shedeur Sanders vs. Tom Brady vs. Patrick Mahomes

Starting with Patrick Mahomes, choosing Texas over Oklahoma made a difference since it gave Mahomes a platform to become the player to bag the most passing yards in a game (734), and the most yards of total offense with 819.

Unlike Tom Brady, who barely got off the bench in his first two years, only getting a chance to play at the starting position in his junior year. Brady had to wait to complete all 5 years at Michigan, while Mahomes could get off after 3. Now, speaking of Shedeur, the QB will also complete 5 years in college before declaring for the 2025 draft.

The only difference between all 3? While Patrick Mahomes with his 11,252 yards and 93 TDs out of 32 games played in his career, and Tom Brady with his 4,773 and 30 from 29 games played, left a massive impression and even better stats to fall back on when declaring for the NFL draft.

Until the 2023 season, Shedeur Sanders has amassed 10,193 yards and 97 TDs. Among this, the 2023 season was a losing one for Colorado. Yet Shedeur Sanders is almost nearing Patrick Mahomes’ career stats, already surpassing Tom Brady’s. Now, all that he would need to do is refine his playing techniques to show some promise to the scouting team in the NFL, plus amass equally good numbers in his last season.
