Is Shedeur Sanders the next Joe Burrow, or is the hype too much for him to handle?

Just as the heaviness of the 2024 season is settling in Colorado, the team is also counting their blessings. They sure have a heavy redemption to make after their 4-8 season. However, they are equipped with some exceptional skills this season, ones that they severely lacked in the previous one. With beasts like Jordan Seaton and other new recruits bolstering up what the seasoned players like Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter already brought to the table, Deion Sanders and Co. can rest assured about the ramped-up O-line. Especially when Shedeur Sanders has made a huge statement about them “being everybody’s ‘Super Bowl’.

Speaking of the seasoned players, saying that they have gotten more seasoned would be an understatement. They have taken their skills to the next level, as seen in their practice sessions and the updates coming in from analysts. Amid all the buzz of Shedeur getting drafted as the first-rounder in the 2025 NFL draft, CBS Sports’ Emory Hunt chipped in his take on the much-talked-about CU QB too. “Joe Burrow reincarnated”, was the applause that Hunt gave to Shedeur Sanders.

“The same level of cool, calm collectiveness that you saw from Burrow at LSU after the UCF. That’s the same guy you see in Shedeur Sanders,” added Hunt, drawing the parallels between Burrow and Shedeur. Burrow boasted a slightly higher completion percentage of 68.8 in his college career than Shedeur does now does (65.9). But don’t forget the fact that Shedeur still has a season to go. A better score is expected to come out of it. However, the biggest question here is that Burrow got drafted as No.1 overall in the 2019 NFL draft. Will Shedeur Sanders get that honor too?

Can Shedeur Sanders make it to QB1?

From the early 2025 NFL mock draft, one thing seems highly likely: Shedeur Sanders is expected to be a first-round pick. But will he be the QB1? Georgia QB Carson Beck is giving a tough competition to Sanders on this front. Although Beck is predicted to be the QB1 in the 2025 NFL draft in most mock drafts, it will be only after this season that Shedeur’s fate will truly be sealed.

As of now, the QB is rumored to go to the Raiders as QB2, most likely as a top-5 pick. That is only if the Buffs display a better performance than they did last season. The likes of it are there. Yet, do you think that the Buffs will be able to pull it off? Drop your thoughts in the comments.
