Shedeur Sanders' latest performance—Is he the next big name to watch in the NFL?

Snub no more! Shedeur Sanders finally got his due. Back in May, the Buffaloes quarterback was passed over for the coveted EA Sports College Football 25 cover spot, which went to his teammate, Travis Hunter.

In fact, Hunter was spotted in both the deluxe version and the graphic cover art poster of the hyped video game. Thus, it seemed like a major blow for the team’s star QB Shedeur, but hold on – he just scored a major touchdown (virtually)!

On July 8th, a juicy update dropped for the upcoming game. “Shedeur Sanders ‘Watch Flex’ appears to have made the list of TD Celebrations in EA CFB ’25!” That’s right, gamers playing as Colorado can now bust out Shedeur’s flashy wristwatch move after a touchdown.

EA Sports wants to make the game feel real, so they’ve included a bunch of celebration options. You can go classic with a mic drop, head swag, or even a fan point. But for “Colorado gamers” only, there’s the special “Salute to Show The Ice” move. Shedeur first pulled off this celebratory flex after a win over Nebraska last year, flashing his “icy diamond-studded” AP watch. But it became a trend after another win – against the Colorado State Rams. Before the game, the Rams coach disrespected Coach Prime for wearing sunglasses, and Shedeur took the win “personally,” flaunting his watch move in response. Now, this classy celebration move is immortalized in the video game!

Shedeur even reposted the news with a simple, “Legendary” showing his pride. While teammate Travis might have grabbed the cover back in May, Shedeur finally got his due recognition. And there seems to be no bad blood between the two Buffs stars!

Travis and Shedeur Sanders stay strong despite the cover drama

What’s your perspective on:

Shedeur Sanders' latest performance—Is he the next big name to watch in the NFL?

Have an interesting take?

The internet went wild with speculation soon after Shedeur Sanders’ snub. Some even went as far as calling Shedeur the “evil stepsister jealous of Cinderella” towards teammate Travis Hunter, who landed the coveted cover spot. All this because fans noticed Shedeur hadn’t publicly congratulated his best friend over his new feat.

Thankfully, Coach Prime himself shut down the drama with a hilarious statement: “This is how crazy and ignorant people are that Shedeur and Travis beef…this is how stupid people are because Travis was on the game and Shedeur is mad. Like no! What’s wrong with people?” Even the CU Buffs governor, Camden Dempsey, reassured everyone that “Their bond is strong. Any beef you’ve heard between any of the guys is just non-existent.”

So, it seems there was never any bad blood between the two star players. And guess what? Shedeur getting his own in-game celebration with EA Sports feels like the perfect response to those baseless rumors.  Looks like the friendship between Hunter and Shedeur is here to stay, stronger than ever.
