“Tickets for 38 dollars” With all the hype that’s been around the Buffs and Deion Sanders, that ticket price for their game in Arizona shows a different side of the story. With Shedeur Sanders out here claiming that the Buffs are “everybody’s Super Bowl” it’s bound to make fans question if that’s the case. With major names like Texas and Oklahoma already out of the Big 12 and joining the SEC, are the people waiting for the Buffs to have their fairy tale ending finally or will it again end with crushed dreams and a lot of memes?

Frank Michael Smith follows this exact path to present his view on the scene. “Shedeur Sanders is setting his team up for disaster, despite losing six, straight to close the season last year. It was a win for the program. The Buffs were dead before Deion, and his boy showed up.” Here’s the problem, right? Now, when asked about his obligation to perform at a different level, Shedeur said, “I’m undefeated in a SWAC. Already know what the expectation comes with. I know we are everybody’s Super Bowls. This is borderline delusional, despite being a Cinderella Story, the buffs still finished dead last in Pac-12,” is what he said in a video posted to X on 17th July. This comes fresh riding on the hot trails of the recent “They are irrelevant in the big picture of college football” remark by Paul Finebaum.

While it is true that even last season the Buffs talked the talk but couldn’t walk the walk, people who have been following the team recently would be lying if they don’t agree that they have shown improvement. Deion Sanders is much more hopeful about this season and so are the staff members on the team. Shilo Sanders already came out on 14th July and boldly stated, “We definitely have a better chance of winning this year than last year. More guys are hungry to go to the league.” Now, this is not a lie or a joke. If we look at straight facts like Shedeur’s accuracy going up, the team getting a better defense line and Travis Hunter becoming much stronger with the increased weight. This is not all, though. Winning this season or even going on a record of 5 to 7 wins would mean a lot, as they have much at stake.

The NFL draft, the Heisman? The No.1 QB? The best player in college football? Big titles with big requirements and expectations. This is what Shedeur and Travis are carrying on their shoulder and this is also what probably keeps Coach Prime awake at night. With a remark like “he builds legacies, he doesn’t inherit them” from the Big 12 commissioner, Shedeur being called the “best QB in college football” and Travis already on top of ESPN’s Top 100 College Football Players list. Achieving all of this praise but failing to leave their mark on the 2024 season would crush Deion Sanders Buffs.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Shedeur Sanders really setting his team up for disaster, or is Finebaum just stirring the pot?

Have an interesting take?

Although Smith in his video does raise a valid point that if the Buffs are everybody’s Super Bowl, then “I shouldn’t be able to buy tickets for 38 dollars for the game at Arizona” highlighting the fact that the ticket prices would’ve been much higher. We, as fans, all know the viewership that Deion Sanders commands. Even in the 2023 season, despite going 4-8, the Buffs games drew in major numbers. And this is what Shedeur means when he says “Everybody’s Super Bowl”. They can lose, they can win, but the number of eyeballs on Deion Sanders and his team makes them THE big target. So let’s hope the boys are all set and ready for an “undefeated season”.
