It’s time for Shilo Sanders to feel some real pain. Months after undergoing surgery to treat his deformed pinky finger, the Buffaloes safety again visited the doctor. Even though it is a minor issue this time, Shilo ensures that he captures it in a video and posts it on his YouTube channel.
Putting himself through multiple medical procedures has hardened Deion Sanders’ son. In the video, Shilo asks to send the video of the treatment, where the pin drenched in blood is taken out, to his father. As mockingly claimed by Shilo on the video, his father neglects his son’s injury and asks him to take part in strenuous physical training sessions.

Deion Sanders is the perfect blend of a strict coach and a strict father. He treats his sons Shedeur and Shilo the same way he treats the other players. As pointed out by Shilo, Coach Prime refuses to listen to any excuse for Shilo’s injury. Hence, when the doctor pulled out the pin on his finger, Shilo said, “That was in my pinky this whole time. Send this to all the strength coach and send this to my dad, cause he don’t take me serious when I say no I can’t do up-downs I got the pin in my pinky.”
Hence, Coach Prime seems to neglect his son’s injury by focusing on the preparation ahead of the Spring games. Shilo has been living with this injury for quite a long time now. For the first time while playing at South Carolina, he tore his ACL. Up next, when he joined Jackson State, he faced another ACL injury that left him with a broken pinky finger. But for Coach Prime, this injury can never be an option to skip training.

Back in January, right before Shilo stepped into the operating room, he had a word with his father. Over Facetime, Coach Prime tried to lift Shilo’s mood by pointing out how irrelevant pinky fingers are. In an attempt to morally boost Shilo, Deion Sanders claimed, “Son, don’t try to get out of everything else for a pinky. Pinkies don’t ever count, Dawg.”

Not just this, the Buffs HC continued with his vocal tonic. To uplift Shilo’s morale before the surgery, Coach Prime drew parallels to Pro Football Hall-of-Famer, “Why don’t you do like Ronnie Lott and cut the tip off, like a real safety.” Like Shilo, Lott was also going through a lot of pain because of his pinky finger. But just before the 1986 NFL season, he decided to amputate it so that he did not miss his playing time due to frequent medical treatments.

Now that the pin is out of Shilo’s finger, Deion Sanders will have a good reason to expose Shilo to intense workouts. Last season, all by himself, the Buffs safety led the team with 21 solo tackles. With the spring season knocking at the door, it is now time to see how Shilo hits back to the ground.
