The Ohio State Buckeyes are reforming their entire squad for next season and they’re out for blood. Their season came to a tragic end in 2023 when they lost their final match against the Michigan Wolverines. If it weren’t for coach Harbaugh’s team, the Buckeyes could’ve very well made it to one of the top 4 spots in the college football playoffs. And now with their recent acquisitions and pursuits of new players, they will try their best to avenge their loss against Michigan next season.

The Michigan Wolverines went on to win the CFP national championship. It shattered the Buckeyes to the fullest after also suffering a sad defeat at the hands of Michigan by a score of 30-24. Now as the Wolverines seem weaker after most likely losing Harbaugh to the NFL, the chances of the Buckeyes’ revenge seem higher. In an effort to strengthen the squad, they have sought to go after players like Caleb Downs and Julian Sayin to build the ultimate team.

The Buckeyes are headed towards a newer tomorrow. Ryan Day, the head coach for the team, is in a talent-acquisition frenzy and is signing a lot of players to the team. Recently, the team signed players like Will Howard, Quinshon Judkins, Seth McLaughlin, and several others.

Five-star Alabama QB entered the transfer portal in 2024 and there are a lot of teams that want to sign the freshman. He’s proved that he’s one of the best throwers out there and he seems like he’d be the perfect addition to the Buckeyes. One of the major reasons for the Buckeyes’ defeat against Michigan was the incompetent offensive plays. If Sayin ends up with the men in white and red, he’d change the trajectory of the team.

Moreover, the famous rivalry between Michigan and Ohio, which is more popularly known as ‘the Game’, has never been tenser. Michigan snatched glory from Ohio at the very last minute and eliminated them from the competition. Thus, with all the frustrations building up, the Buckeyes have started to pursue Caleb Downs, the former DB for the Alabama Crimson Tide, who would be sure to knock down the likes of JJ McCarthy in the field. While their war seems to be with Michigan, the Buckeyes are surely going after Alabama’s squad as well. In recent reports, the Buckeyes have signed Bill O’Brien as the newest OC for the 2024 season.

Alabama’s former OC Bill O’Brien joins the Ohio State Buckeyes for the upcoming season

O’Brien served as the offensive coordinator for the Alabama Crimson Tide during the years of 2021 and 2022. After which, he moved to the NFL to work under Belichick’s Patriots as their OC in the 2023 season. While the Buckeyes’ squad continues to get stronger, O’Brien’s addition would do wonders for the team as a drastic change in offensive plays was direly needed in the team.

In response to O’Brien’s signing, Ryan Day said, “I am extremely pleased to be able to add Bill O’Brien to our coaching staff. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge – and a tremendous amount of success – at both the NFL and collegiate levels.”He is an excellent and experienced offensive coach who has run NFL and Power 5 programs and developed some truly elite players throughout his career. He’ll be an excellent teacher and recruiter for us, and he absolutely strengthens our staff.” Thus, Michigan better be prepared for what’s coming as Day’s Ohio 2.0 is going to come back harder and stronger than ever before.
