Getting a vote of confidence from the coach who mentored you to become who you are right now? Well, that’s exactly what happened to Kirby Smart and Steve Sarkisian. Both Bulldogs and Longhorns are all set for the upcoming season. With Smart closely following Saban’s coaching style and Sarkisian already standing with a team with a solid offense with players like Arch Manning and Quinn Ewers. The Pat McAfee Show on 19th July shared a clip on their YouTube channel regarding the entire Georgia-Texas SEC Championship remark.

Nick Saban during the SEC Media Days was quite vocal about Georgia and Texas. “So I really like Texas. I think Georgia’s got a really good team,” he said. Saban went on to praise the Longhorns for building a solid O-line with Arch Manning, Quinn Ewers, Isaiah Bond, and DJ Campbell. Sarkisian has always followed Saban’s philosophy. “No one have you impacted more than me. I would not be standing here without you,” he said on SEC Media Days. Saban helped Sarkisian grow after he was removed from the Trojans.

Kirby Smart, on the other hand, grew up under Saban himself. The student who defeated the master back in the 2022 SEC Championship. Saban also had high praise for Smart. “I’m proud of Kirby. I’m proud of the program he’s built. He has done an outstanding job,” he told ESPN during a post-match interview. However, looks like the fans had quite a different reaction to all this. “Coach providing the rat poison himself. He knew what he was doing!” a fan mentioned regarding the YouTube video. Did Saban know what he was getting into? Is this some sort of master plan to get his former team to gear up?

Some wild theories

A fan was quite confident of an amazing theory. “he did it to light a fire underneath Alabama. if you don’t know Saban by now, you won’t know him when he gives college gameday predictions,” they said. It is not a new fact that Saban is rooting for Alabama. Back when he had passed those comments regarding Georgia and Texas, he had also said, “but I believe in our Alabama team, too – I believe in Jalen Milroe.” The Crimson Tide is in safe hands and Saban knows that Kalen DeBoer can get the job done. Another comment by a fan followed the same theory. “He tryna make em hungry,” they said.

At this point, every fan knows that Alabama is an offensive powerhouse, especially after DeBoer took the helm. He has managed to reshape the o-line of the team and maybe this preference for Georgia-Texas by Saban would make DeBoer push harder. This brings us to another comment by a fan who agrees with the previous statement. “Nick said that for a reason, that’ll push them Boyz to play better this year tbh you’ll see,” they mentioned. Finally, one fan was ecstatic for the Crimson Tide and all set to see them perform, so they left a sweet “Roll Tide!” under the video. We just have to wait and watch if Saban’s little psychological trick works out.

Is Nick Saban's doubt in Alabama's championship bid justified, or is he just playing mind games?
