No matter how low Cormani McClain had been pushed to this transfer season, he never lost hope. The Colorado Buffaloes transfer now got the fruits of being patient while life threw some of the hardest blows as he stepped into Billy Napier’s Florida Gators. Other than his mother, Kaishay, and Lake Gibson LB Coach, Nick Moody, his support tribe got a new member.

It is none other than his former teammate, running back, Kavosiey Smoke. The no-nonsense advice coming from Smoke will serve as a moral boost as McClain paves his path back to Florida.

ESPN’s analyst, Adam Rittenberg on May 12 confirmed that McClain accompanied by his mother and agent, Hector Davis toured the Florida facility, meeting the coaching staff. The speculation turned out to be true as McClain took to X confirming his Gators commitment. But along with this chose to be vocal about his feelings as he stepped foot in Napier’s program, “It’s always a lesson when you take a loss, as soon as you find it correct it #Backhome”.

On this new chapter of his journey, McClain has been lucky enough to gain the trust of his ex-teammate, Smoke. Wishing him luck for his new beginning all Smoke did was leave some words of wisdom for the cornerback. He tweeted, “prove these folks wrong but prove yourself right first u still him”. Even though Smoke refrains from taking any names, he intends to directly make an attack on Deion Sanders and company. This was not the only time he turned against his program.

Smoke went through a similar experience to McClain

Back in November, it was the same Smoke who brought up charges against Deion Sanders’ Colorado. The Buffaloes were knocked out of postseason contention by Washington State in a 56–14 blowout loss. It was after the defeat the player expressed his frustration on X which he later deleted, “Simple fact, Bru, we could’ve went undefeated this year too much selfish ball going on man can’t win like that gotta play and win as a team but if u go the other route u get results like this.”

However, Deion Sanders had maintained a cordial relationship with McClain even after the cornerback had hit the transfer portal. Coach Prime wants the best for him and in a way acknowledged the shortcomings that propelled McClain to take the exit. “I pray to God that he goes to a program that challenges him, as well as holds him accountable and develops him as a young man. Unfortunately, we weren’t the program that could accomplish that,” Sanders said during an interview with DNVR.

With this, McClain will be making the best use of the second chance he has received to return to his home state. Last time, he ditched Florida to join Colorado. It is now to be seen whether this decision works in his favor.
