“Everybody’s Super Bowl” that one statement by Shedeur Sanders had sent all kinds of ripples down the field. When Deion Sanders took over the Buffs when it was at its worst spot with a 1-11 season. Coach Prime made the team come back with a 4-8 season in 2023, but that just wasn’t enough. The hype that Colorado had created, the hype that Deion Sanders had created, made the fans beg for a lot more. However, it looks like 2024 will finally be the year Coach Prime and his sons redeem themselves.

But Aaron Torres has something different to say. On his Sports Podcast on August 2nd, Torres goes on to explain what he thinks the Buffs can do this year. “Now, I’ll be honest, I’m gonna be totally transparent. I don’t think Colorado is the second-best team in the country,” Torres mentions. This comes right after Shedeur Sanders claimed on his podcast that he would rank Georgia as the best team in college football, followed by Colorado and Miami. However, here’s the fun far. Torres throws in a curveball later on. “I don’t think Colorado is nearly as bad as people think they are,” he said. Let’s purely go off of stats. People out there say Shedeur is overrated as a player. Well, if we look at his 2023 season, Shedeur went for 31 touchdowns, 69% completion last year followed by 3,230 yards covered. As Torres puts it, “If that is an overrated season, I think every QB in America would love to have that down season.” That ain’t all. As mentioned before, Buffs went from 1-11 to 4-8, that’s a 400% improvement.

This year would be a blast for the team. Especially keeping in mind all the changes that have been made to the O-line. 2023 went badly for Shedeur and the Buffs because Deion had underestimated what Travis Hunter and his sons were capable of. They went on the field without a proper defense or any way to secure Shedeur inside those pockets. All of this led him to become the most sacked QB in 2023. However, as Torres mentions, “People are going to be surprised.”

CU alum, Matt McChesney, put it perfectly back on July 19th. “I’m looking up with all these motherf**kers so they are big as shit,” Matt said. With the early transfer portal, Coach Prime had managed to pull in 6 new offensive linemen for the team. The main objective is to protect Shedeur in the pocket. Not only that, Coach Prime has also grabbed Will Sheppard from Vanderbilt. Sheppard will act as the X-receiver for Shedeur. With a solid top speed of 20MPH+, this would give Shedeur a chance to exercise his speed and accuracy properly on the field.

This year is looking up to be amazing for the Buffs. Let’s hope they can manage to leave a mark.
