Is Julian Lewis being unfairly rated, or is there more to the story than we know?

Now everyone knows the hype around Julian Lewis and how Colorado and Auburn are trying to steal him away from the Trojans. But why is getting him on the team so important? Well, the young recruit put some more gasoline in the Juju fever fire when he grabbed the Most Accurate Passer title from Elite11. The USC pledge managed to keep his game on through the 7-on-7 session and finished second to Tavien St. Clair. However, this brings up an interesting question. If Juju is still spreading his wings and flying, why are his ratings going down?

When Carlton Lewis highlighted Juju’s recent achievement on X, mentioning the stats and the title he ended up with. Another X user was quick to quote a post made by Deion Sanders on 11th July under Carlton’s original update. Sanders had previously commented, “To whom it may concern, if you desire to come play for us @CUBuffsFootball they may drop your HS rankings just because… we don’t care about rankings”. This according to Coach Prime, is the CU effect. Whenever a player plans on switching to Colorado, their ratings start dropping. This interaction sparked discussions about the controversial drop in Lewis’s ratings by On3 Sports and 247Sports, despite his exceptional performance at the Elite 11.

Both On3 Sports and 247Sports dropped Lewis from 5-stars to 4-stars. For comparison’s sake, ESPN and Rivals.com hold Lewis as a 5-star athlete, while also ranking him as the No.2 QB in the country and a top prospect for the 2025 class. Now why this discrepancy? It was not like On3 had always kept Juju as a 4-star. An account on X directly showed images and stated, “Julian Lewis has dropped Julian Lewis’s ranking to a 4⭐️ After winning most consistent in the elite 11 camp.” This shows that his rations were intentionally dropped. But what could be the bigger picture here?

Why is this happening?

Can Coach Prime’s prophecy actually be true? Is there some sort of curse at Colorado or is it because of Deion Sanders himself? Travis Hunter, originally the top recruit for the 2022 class, experienced a significant drop in his rankings after he committed to Jackson State under Deion Sanders. Initially, Hunter was ranked as the No. 1 overall player with a composite rating of 99.56 according to On3. However, following his commitment, his ranking dropped as far as No. 8 nationally. Even in Colorado, despite being a generational talent and highly talented 2way player, Hunter was dropped to rank 20 on the list of top 100 players in college football by On3.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Julian Lewis being unfairly rated, or is there more to the story than we know?

Have an interesting take?

However, one thing is sure, this ain’t some sort of curse for Deion Sanders. Because Carson Beck from Bulldogs, regarded as The Number 1 potential pick for the NFL draft, was placed on, imagine this, 26th position. Well, for now, only the executives at On3 and 247Sports know what sort of magic mushroom they are cooking. But one thing is for sure, Lewis ain’t gonna stop spreading that Juju fever.
