“Sherrone Moore era begins officially this upcoming season,” On3’s JD Pickell said, echoing the expectations from fans around the Nation. Coming fresh off a loss-less season and a National Championship win, the initial expectations from Sherrone Moore after Jim Harbaugh was already sky-high. However, the long and impressive list of hires he made since assuming the cap of head coach, Wink Martindale, Tony Alford, and Kirk Campbell, was enough to douse down all questions about his abilities.

Moore has coached the conclusive three games in the previous season and they proved to be massive with Jim Harbaugh’s absence. But it’s hardly about Jim Harbaugh anymore. It’s “Sherrone Moore Michigan, not Sherrone Moore driving Jim Harbaugh Michigan”, as Pickell puts it. With the 2024 Michigan Spring Day less than a month away, Moore and Co. are already working as a team to save the day. However, the real showdowns will commence from their Week 1 clash against Texas. The next season, which is set to commence in about four months from April, will give Sherrone Moore the perfect platform to establish himself as the ‘Michigan Man’ in the post-Jim Harbaugh era.

The Labor Day weekend is when the regular season will pick its action off right from where it was left, following Michigan’s grand win. And if Sherrone Moore can win his first game, it will be big. “Let’s be real this could be his first signature win. This could be the win that you kind of look back on Sherrone Moore’s time at Michigan. You know a couple of years and you say that was the win that kind of jumpstarted momentum,” Pickell explained about the importance of the win against Texas. Even with more than 4 months remaining for the game to commence, the expectations are already being laid down for Sherrone Moore and Co. and it’s not going to come easy.

Looking at the team Moore has built, it seems that the task won’t be out of their league. However, if they have to face another resignation, then it will be a headache for Michigan.

The resignation came after the DL coach was arrested by the Ann Arbor police department for operating a vehicle while intoxicated on Saturday. While it won’t be much big of a hit to Michigan, since Scruggs was hired just earlier this month following his stint at Wisconsin, it will present a challenge of making a suitable replacement for the opening. With the Spring practice sessions in full swing, will Moore make another blockbuster hire? Drop your thoughts in the comments.
