The Colorado Buffaloes are being faced with a storm of ambiguity as the next season draws closer and at the forefront of it all is- whether Shedeur Sanders and Travis will be able to win the Heisman trophy or not. Though the Heisman Trophy is awarded to the best individual on the field, the winners are usually the ones who are in teams that perform well in the season. Thus, putting more pressure on the shoulders of Deion Sanders.

In the 2023 season, the Colorado Buffaloes had an explosive start to the season, when they defeated the TCU Horned Frogs, who were a playoff team in 2022. Their 2 more wins against Nebraska and CSU, put Travis and Shedeur amid the top 5 contenders for the Heisman in week 3 before it all came crashing down with a streak of losses. Thus, despite showing phenomenal individual performance, the odds boil down to the team’s overall performance and that’s what Deion will have to keep in mind this year, as per Uncle Neely.

On the 12th June episode of the Unk & Chico show, Uncle Neely and Biggdogg Chico were seen discussing the prospects of Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter being Heisman trophy finalists. Ultimately, Neely arrived at a conclusion as to how Deion could ensure his top-2 players stay in the race for the Heisman.

As per Coach Prime’s right-hand man, the number of interceptions or the touchdowns don’t matter. He added, “If your team ain’t winning, you move out of the discussion for Heisman and you saw that last year. We start losing games, their names go out of dimension. So all of this is tied to winning, they understand that. That’s why the goal is first and foremost, not Heisman, it’s not breaking records, the goal is to win.

Though there will be an essence of a rivalry between Shedeur Sanders and Travis, Deion believes that it will raise the spirits of the team as well.

Forget the Heisman, but let’s think about where they’re rated in the draft. The guys are like one and two, both in the top five.
