Colorado’s entanglement with nepotism debates will never end. Remember how people accused Shedeur Sanders of cashing in on his father’s name because of his big NIL valuation? However, it seems they would rather make fun of the issue. Well, that’s what their latest banter moment suggests! Shedeur Sanders and Kaleb Mathis just got into a friendly nepotism banter!

As seen in the latest Well Off Media video on YouTube, the team was busy having lunch- some shrimp, brisket fried chicken, and other good stuff. The Buffs QB, Shedeur, turned to the camera and said, “You know who his dad is? It’s Coach Mathis. His dad a coach.”

As he said that, he pointed at Kaleb Mathis, who was eating his lunch. Surely, the teammate had to hit back. Kaleb Mathis continued the joke and questioned, “You know who his dad is? Deion Sanders.” They had a hearty laughter and continued their banter.

Mathis: “They say play for your dad [Deion Sanders].”
Shedeur: “Your dad a DB guru.”
Mathis: “Then what is your daddy?”
Shedeur: “A DB guru.”
Mathis: “The DB Master.”

The camera then slowly moved toward the coaches, who seemed busy having their lunch and were engrossed in a deep discussion. What’s interesting is that Kaleb Mathis’s father Kevin Mathis worked along with Deion Sanders back at Jackson State. He coached the defensive backs there for three seasons. And then, he moved to Colorado with Sanders.

Surely, the teammates love some healthy banter. But a while ago, Kaleb Mathis came out in strong support of Shedeur. Mathis defended Sanders during a complication involving former teammate Xavier Smith.

When Smith opened up about how he felt he wasn’t treated well by coach Deion Sanders, Shedeur hit back writing on X, “Ion [I don’t] even remember him tbh.” The QB even called Smith “mid”. Amid this, Mathis posted a video where he beat Smith in a 1-on-1 rep in practice. However, coming back to the current Colorado roster, there’s something quite interesting when it comes to their dynamics. There are quite a lot of brothers on the team.

For instance, both Shedeur Sanders and Kaleb Mathis have brothers on the team: Safety Shilo Sanders and CB Kole Mathis. Another interesting thing about the Buffs is that they have the most sets of brothers on a football team.

Colorado has six sets of brothers!

The Colorado team boasts a truly remarkable composition. They have two coaches with two sons playing on the same team, a rarity in itself, and they also hold the FBS record for the most sets of brothers.

In fact, during an appearance on Reach The People Media, 5-star OT Jordan Seaton came clean about Colorado’s environment. He said, “It’s a brotherhood out here. It’s a family environment... This is the real deal right here.” The Buffs need to show that their performance this season will receive as much attention as they do with their FBS record.
