How far is Shedeur Sanders from making his NFL debut? The young QB from Boulder is perhaps in the form of his life and is itching to go to the next level. Many NFL pundits are eyeing him as one of the top draft picks for 2024. At the CU Buffs, his game has developed manifolds with the presence of Deion Sanders as the HC. The way the teenager moves, makes passes and functions is reminiscent of his father, but maybe better.

There’s no shred of doubt in saying that the QB is talented beyond measure. He has a great future ahead of him, but going to the NFL is a big ask. There lies a big difference between playing against college teams for an NCAA title and going out to square off against the competent NFL sides. However, going by the form he’s in and the numbers Shedur has this year, an NFL debut might be in the reckoning.

How has Shedeur Sanders fared in the 2023/24 NCAA season so far?

Shedeur Sanders could be one of the few bright spots in an otherwise dismal Buffs’ campaign. He’s been the star of the season and one of the consistent performers. Take a snapshot of these records, as they’re certainly legendary! He recently completed his 10,000 career rushing yards this year. The numbers would go up as the side finishes its last two games.

Furthermore, the reason behind Colorado’s explosive offenses is Shedeur’s ability to score a touchdown once he sees an opening. He has scored a goal on more than 26 occasions and has given his all to the team. Apart from his noteworthy numbers, he has the ability to make interceptions as well. Shedeur has 3 interceptions with more to come.

It’s been a season that has put the 2 jersey no. that has won the hearts of all Americans. His processes are clear and comes into every game with positive body language.

Dissecting Shedeur’s strengths that make him a fierce competitor

The teenager is blessed with some raw power and the extra mileage to go forth in his career. The player is just starting up in his career and hence has already developed a terrific game. Firstly, Shedeur’s a team man and relies on passes. He comes from the old-school tradition of making passes to the WR and then plotting ahead for a TD.

Therefore, the QB has a 77% successful passing percentage in his arsenal. It’s a feature in his game that one can say he’s developed over time under the guidance of his father. He comes across as unshakeable in times of stress. Given the Buffs have been under the pump several times, Sanders has avoided showing any frustrations. Keeping calm under duress is a terrific trait that allows him to score with panache.

Now coming onto his throws, we all know how great of a ball-thrower Sanders is. His delivery of the ball and the ability to just find a vacant offensive lineman makes it easier to command possession. The arm strength is similar to that of a baseball player. Which again is inherited from Deions’ MLB capabilities. Sanders can throw the ball off-platform, changing his release angle and then the speed as required. Is he all set to head to the NFL with his skills and his numbers? Let’s find out.

Sanders needs to debut for the NFL next year: My opinion

I personally admire Shedeur’s physique. While he doesn’t have that chiseled frame as yet, he possesses broad shoulders, making it easier to trudge past the defense. Moreover, the player has grown in leaps and bounds since the start of the season and worked on his game.

Sanders during his initial matches looked a bit flustered and someone who was desperate to score a goal. In doing so, he was shelving many chances of scoring TDs and making plays. Now, after about 10 games in the season, the teenager seems more settled in his role. In my opinion, the player backs himself to score a goal in any given situation and has clarity of thought while making a move.

Though he has impressive numbers, it’s the youngster’s consistency to keep delivering in every match. I saw over the season how many hits he took, while he was sacked numerous times, Sanders isn’t the one to give up! He reminds me of a young Kirk Cousins but can learn a thing or two from the senior statesman about the recovery process. Yes, in a nutshell, I want to see him play a rookie QB during the next year.

If all goes well and given that the youngster remains injury-free, he’ll be a hot property. Several leading NFL sides are eyeing a young and hungry QB on their sides and Shedeur can make his case strong with his numbers. I wish him luck for the things to come.
