Is Coach Prime's rejection of CFB giants a bold move or a missed opportunity for greatness?

From nothing to a million-dollar program, that’s the work Deion Sanders put in for Colorado. When the Big 12 commissioner said, “He builds legacies. He doesn’t inherit them” it couldn’t have been further away from the truth. When Paul Finebaum went on ESPN First Take and claimed that Deion would make the perfect replacement for Lincoln Riley at Trojans, it started this whole debate. It’s not like Coach Prime has not received offers from other schools, but fans would know that Deion Sanders just doesn’t hop on a program that’s already on the map.

Now on July 23rd, Rick Jeter from Bigsnackks YT echoes same the feelings. “You know, Steven A. thinks Boulder is beneath Deion. But what Deion has told y’all several times over and over again, he likes to build programs, not go to a program that’s already at the pinnacle or close to it,” Jeter mentions in his video. There ain’t no fun in inheriting something that someone else has already put their all into. For Deion, the fun comes in when he has to go in, put his blood, sweat, and tears into the whole thing, and get it all set. And honestly, he has been quite vocal about it as well. He got his “Prime-Time” image to secure major deals for the camp and also went on to get his sons, Shedeur Sanders, and Shilo Sanders, to join in on the program. Coach Prime’s influence also managed to pull in 2-way star Travis Hunter into the team. That’s not all. With all the social media marketing with Pregame Show, Well Off, and Reach The People, Deion has made CU games some of the most enjoyable in the recent decade. As Shedeur Sanders put it, “Colorado is everybody’s Super Bowl.”

Back on January 30th on Undisputed, Deion put it straight and clean. “I’m not that kind of guy that is going to run off to another school and inherit an already winning team that’s just two, three games away. No, I inherited some bull junk and I’m gonna fix it,” Coach Prime said. With a terrible season back in 2023, nothing has changed Deion Sanders’ perspective. He is still there, changing the team piece by piece. With new additions to the linebackers and enhanced defense, Coach Prime has made sure that this year, the Buffs would be something quite different on the field.

You would be lying to yourself if you said that Buffs haven’t changed. With Shedeur Sanders’ accuracy going up by 70-80% and Travis Hunter bulking up to be that mean and strong WR on the field. Coach Prime has made sure that the team does not disappoint like last season. Even when 2023 had ended, Deion realized the mistakes he had made. “We got to protect that quarterback,” is what he said regarding the team defenses which were crushed as Shedeur Sanders was unable to protect himself in the pocket.

All of that has now changed. Matt McChesney put it perfectly on The Coach JB and Big Smitty Show. “All the offensive linemen were helping out at camp, and I felt small, like, I’m looking up with all these motherf**kers so they are big as shit,” he mentioned regarding his visit to the camp. With the early transfer portal, Coach Prime managed to secure Jordan Seaton, Tyler Johnson, and Justin Mayers. Not only that, he also got in, Kyeran Garcia on the defense. This is what makes Deion Sanders what he is. Now, let’s see what magic the Buffs do this 2024 season.
