Ahead of the Rose Bowl, other things burgeon the NCAA landscape, one of them being the scarcity of in-vouge head coaches in the college football terrain. Even NFL teams like the Chargers want an experienced-it-all mindset like Jim Harbaugh on their team, given their alarming ranks.

Harbaugh not signing the contract with Michigan right away has pushed the college football world into a conundrum. Will Harbaugh stall from his stalwartness with Michigan or he would focus on the future prospects? Paul Finebaum has some answers on that, as he takes a friendly jibe at his coaching style.

The ESPN host thinks of Harbaugh as an ancient relic. Harbaugh’s old-school coaching style has underpinned the Wolverines in the toughest of days, per Finebaum. Hence Finebaum expressed his viewpoint of Harbaugh, in Hail Yeah! podcast. “I think he’s somewhat of a dinosaur in a changing world,” said he. Harbaugh’s classic coaching style has brought home three consecutive Big-Ten titles and a shot at the Rose Bowl this season. With an approach that Harbaugh has been following for the past few years, put in front of the accolades he has amassed, he simply seems the ‘dinosaur’ in the CFB, as Finebaum proposes.

However, Finebaum’s views don’t cease there. The long-time college football analyst also thinks that Harbaugh should make the highly questioned switch to the NFL that the whole town talks about. “I’ll be surprised if he’s there whenever Michigan’s season ends because I think there’s too much baggage built up,” asserted Finebaum. The ‘baggage’ is the two-time suspension in one season. First, when Harbaugh had to miss the first 3 games of the season, and second in October, following the unveiling of sign-stealing farce. All this is resulting in Harbaugh possibly shifting focus from NCAA to NFL, with many teams already ready to take him in.

Jim Harbaugh on the hot-list

Reportedly, Harbaugh has been fostering his interest in NFL teams for the past couple of years by taking interviews with various teams in the past seasons. He met the Minnesota Vikings in 2022 and the Denver Broncos in 2023. But with the impending punishment looming in his future if he returns to Michigan, Finebaum’s sentences weigh heavily.

All the while, teams like the LA Chargers’ and now the Las Vegas Raiders have reached out to him for contracts. Finebaum believes that “Harbaugh would be wise to leave.” With the plethora of choices in front of the Wolverines’ head coach, the CFB community has their eyes fixated on his next move.
