Deion Sanders is on a mission to turn Colorado football around, and he’s starting with the offense. After last season’s disaster, where his quarterback son, Shedeur, was sacked a whopping 52 times, Coach Prime knew he had to make big changes. And he did it with a roster revamp!
Deion didn’t just swap out players; he overhauled the entire coaching staff too. Big names like Phil Loadholt are in to fix that leaky offensive line, and Pat Shurmur is calling the offensive plays. Shurmur calls it a “fresh start,” and it’s hard to argue with him.
But Pat Shurmur’s not getting carried away. When the media asked about the new offense, he said, “There’s times when the defense will make a play and then the offense makes a play. Then when the play doesn’t go your way how do you respond.” He admits that there are going to be some good days as well as bad ones.

He’s also worried about how the team will react to adversity. “I’m only really worried about one side of it,” he said, meaning he’s focused on the team’s response to setbacks. But he’s also experiencing a lot of positives. “We’re coming together as a team,” Shurmur said, giving credit to both the new and old guys. Now, coaching these young guys is fun for Shurmur, but it’s quite different from the NFL. “It’s a more wide-open style of ball,” he said. “Not as much as what I was used to at the pro level.”

While Shurmur is trying to keep things grounded, Deion Sanders is all hype. He’s convinced this offense is going to be quite unstoppable this time!
Deion Sanders is optimistic about the upgraded offense
Last year’s offense was a mess, and Deion Sanders knew he had to do something drastic. He even said, “The big picture is to get new linemen, and I’m gonna paint it perfectly.” And that’s exactly what he did. He kicked out the old line and brought in a bunch of new, massive guys. We’re talking about OLs like Jordan Seaton and Kahlil Benson, who are like, six-foot-five and built like brick houses. But it’s not just the big guys up front. They’ve got playmakers all over the place.

Travis Hunter is a two-way freak who can play as a wide receiver, too. They’ve got other talented receivers like LaJohntay Wester and Jimmy Horn Jr. And the running back room is looking solid too, with Charlie Offerdahl back and new 4-star RBs like Dallan Hayden and Isiah Augustave. Coach Prime is pumped to see guys putting in the work. “I’m [optimistic] when I see the offensive line training hard,” he said during the Buffs media day last month. “And I see the wide receivers staying after the practice to work with the quarterbacks, and I see running backs working,” he added.
With all these pieces in place, QB Shedeur Sanders should have a much better season this time. The offensive line is supposed to keep him upright, and he’s got plenty of weapons to do the passing game better.
