Deion Sanders and “Ego Trippin” rapper Snoop Dogg share a long-standing friendship. Both rose to fame in the 90s, Deion as a football and baseball star who also dabbled in rap and Snoop as a well-known rapper. Their friendship, however, goes beyond their mutual interest in music. They both love football, and that’s what really brought them together.

The “Dogg Father” is a certified football coach and founder of the Snoop Youth Football League. Thus, just like Deion, he has also nurtured young talents and some of them include JuJu Smith-Schuster and C.J. Stroud. Snoop has often publicly praised Deion, not just as a friend but as a mentor and inspiration. So, when negativity recently surrounded Coach Prime in Boulder, it was only natural for Snoop, his loyal friend, to step up and offer his support.

Coach Prime has faced intense criticism lately due to the numerous player departures from the CU Buffaloes football program. Some blame him for not retaining players, while others accuse him and his team of focusing more on style than substance. In response to these critics, Bigg Snoop Dogg, stepped in to defend his legacy. During a recent visit with Deion, Snoop playfully reminded everyone that Coach Prime’s greatness is timeless and won’t be tarnished by negativity.  “Y’all only talk that mess about Prime because he’s not in his Prime,” Snoop said to the camera. “But he’s always Prime, and that’s what y’all don’t understand. It’s all the time Prime and he can outrun every last one of you all.”

Snoop, a confident athlete himself, also boasted that he could “out-jump, out-shoot, and out-throw” anyone. He then lightheartedly extended the warning to Deion’s sons, quarterback Shedeur Sanders and safety Shilo Sanders. “Yeah, the quarterback and I can out-hit you too, safety,” Snoop joked. “What’s happening? Line it up then. Give me a uniform, Prime, I’m coming to practice.” While fans laughed at Snoop’s enthusiasm and request for a uniform, his gesture also highlighted a deep friendship.

Deion Sanders and Coach Snoop’s football friendship

Both Deion Sanders and Snoop Dogg have used online platforms to showcase their passion for coaching. Coach Prime’s flashy coaching style became quite evident in the Amazon Prime series “Coach Prime,” while Snoop Dogg’s docu-series “Coach Snoop” offers a glimpse into his work with the youth football team. This year, Snoop went further with his sports comedy film “The Underdoggs.”

Throughout these projects and their promotions, Snoop Dogg consistently acknowledges Deion Sanders’ influence on his coaching journey. “Me and Prime, we’ve been doing this [coaching] for a long time,” he stated. “He’s moved up to the collegiate level, and I stayed down on the lower level. But Prime has always been my friend… he’s always helped me as far as coaching.”
