The dawn of the new Colorado Buffaloes is almost here and their sights are dead set on the day of 7th December, 2024. Last season, they finished with a 4-8 and aim to do much better this time. With a squad that is decorated with the likes of new additions like Jordan Seaton and new coaching staff members, Coach Prime is leaving no stone unturned to ensure a bright season ahead, as is their athletic director.

Coach Prime and the team had a disastrous season in 2o23, but have been training hard for the upcoming one. Moreover, seeing as this is the last year that Shedeur and Travis Hunter are supposedly playing for the Buffs, this season has never mattered more than ever. Additionally, Coach Prime has a lot of goals from the squad but the Athletic Director, Rick George had his own expectations from the Buffs as well, which boils down to a single date of 12/7/2024.

Rick George talks about his one goal for the Buffaloes

On the 29th May episode of the Well Off Media channel, the fans got an insight into the training strategies of the team and also saw both Deion and Rick, giving their pep talk to the team before they headed out for practice. It almost sounded like mumbo-jumbo when George said that his goal from the team was 12724, which just comes across as a random number.

Fortunately, he ended up explaining that the ‘12724’ implies the date on which the team will be playing their Big-12 championship game. If the Buffaloes do end up winning that game, they get to compete in the playoffs, which is just one step away from the national championship game.

“A goal is a dream with a date attached to it. My dream and my goal for you is 12724. Cuz that big 12 championship game, when we win it, gives us an opportunity to compete for it all and that’s why all of you are here today,” said George as Deion was heard agreeing firmly with his words in the background. Moreover, the AD and Deion have shared a great equation since the HC’s arrival, which has been the start of the epitome of success for the Boulder program.

A look at Rick George and Deion’s fantastic coaching relationship

Everyone in the college football world ridicules George when he makes a risky bet on Deion by appointing him as the head coach for the Colorado Buffaloes. But ever since his arrival, he overturned the program’s win rate by 400% by taking the team to a 4-8 record, which was a drastic increase from the Buffs’ 1-11 record in 2022. More so than that, the ticket sales and the popularity of the Colorado team have occurred mostly due to the Coach Prime fever, something for which Rick George will always be grateful.

Thus, it didn’t come as a shock when the NACDA named Rick George as the Athletic Director of the Year, despite the team’s minute amount of success in the league. “My A.D. Rick George is ATHLETIC DIRECTOR of the YEAR!!!! Love ya Rick for who u are and for giving me this tremendous opportunity to COACH at the Level. God bless u my brother.” These are the words with which Deion extended his gratitude for George on his accomplishment. And by the looks of it all, the duo is set to embark on a new journey together, where the destination seems to be the national championship game for the Colorado Buffaloes.
