SEC Media Days are heating up in Dallas, and analyst Paul Finebaum is dishing on coaches and teams. With Nick Saban’s retirement, all eyes are on Kirby Smart, the two-time champion coach of the Georgia Bulldogs. Finebaum couldn’t hold back his praise, calling them “what Alabama was about 5 or 6 years ago.” He even boldly declared, “Kirby Smart in his late 40s is Nick Saban in the absolute prime of his career.”

But the road to a potential three-peat for the Bulldogs might not be smooth. The SEC is undergoing a major shakeup with the addition of powerhouse teams like the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners. These new arrivals will be officially welcomed during the four-day event in Dallas. Despite the tougher competition, Finebaum remains optimistic about Georgia’s chances. “They don’t have a lot of room for error,” he says, “but in the new age of the playoffs, you can lose 2 or 3 games, especially if your name is Georgia.”
