Will Deion Sanders call it a day in NCAA when his sons leave for the NFL? The question has been buzzing the most since Shedeur and Shilo Sanders were announced for the NFL draft. The timeline of Deion Sanders’ head coaching is a reason fair enough to say so. Prime started head school coaching when his boys were in high school and has followed them since. Be it joining the TripleA Academy in 2015, to the Trinity Christian School, then to Jackson State in 2020, and now, Colorado. The deduction is only logical. However, add a five-star, coveted No.2 QB Julian Lewis to the equation, especially when his official visit is looming right over CU. Not to mention the QB brings a chance for Deion Sanders to become the top program in the whole of NCAA. Would Prime still consider switching?
Per RJ Young, he might. “Coach Prime got no reason to stay at Colorado once Shedeur Sanders and Shilo Sanders are gone to the NFL,” Young believes, mainly because of Sanders’ history of coaching his kids wherever they go. If so happens, CU will undergo a major institutional shift, risking a whole year for the players to adjust to the new head coach and his ways before looking at the bigger picture of the National Championship. Being the hot-in-demand talent he is, Julian Lewis probably won’t waste a whole year dealing with that. Hence, Young thought of warning the five-star QB.

However, here is the catch. The efforts that Deion Sanders is putting in to make JuJu flip his commitment to Colorado from USC shows that Deion is already planning for the future. If JuJu flips to Colorado, not only the rumors but the likeness of Deion Sanders quitting head coaching at CU will be reduced to null. The recruitment of Julian Lewis is a testament to the promise to the CU fans that Prime is there to stay.
To build that extra layer of trust for JuJu, Deion Sanders has confirmed that he will not be leaving Colorado just because his sons will move to the NFL. Per him “a real father guides his sons, he doesn’t follow them.” Sanders said. “So, I’m good, I’ll be here. I ain’t going nowhere,” Sanders asserted in a no-nonsense tone. Rest assured, Julian Lewis can make his official visit to CU without any thoughts nagging at the back of his mind.

Set to hit the Buffs training ground for the third time during the June 21-June 23 weekend, the rumors of Julian Lewis flipping to Colorado have hit the fever pitch. Even Julian Lewis’s father, TC Lewis, who has been an integral part of JuJu’s commitment journey seems pretty sold on Deion Sanders.
Safe to say, the selling point of Julian Lewis in Colorado is just Deion Sanders. He has openly confessed that if it were not for Prime, he wouldn’t have ever “looked at it.” The flip would be an instant win-win for both Lewis and Sanders. For Lewis, he is most likely to get the role of the starting QB since Shedeur Sanders would be leaving for the NFL. As for Colorado, they would be getting the finest high school QB recruit as Shedeur’s heir.
