Whatever semblances of doubts the Buffs Nation had on Deion Sanders as their head coach would now evaporate into thin air. The legendary ex-head coach of the Buffs, under the reign of whom Colorado flourished in its history like never before, has given his stamp of approval to Deion Sanders. Being the head coach under whom Colorado won 2 Big 10 Championships, a Big 12 Championships, and 4 Big 12 North Divisional Championships, praise coming from Barnett was big. It is a full-fledged song of praise that former Colorado head coach Gary Barnett has sung for Deion Sanders, especially after the massive boost that Deion Sanders’ business acumen has given CU.

Speaking with Matt McChesney in the Zero 2 Sixty podcast, Barnett had some nice things to say about the new ways that Deion Sanders is implementing in Colorado like the no phone policy. Barnett did not seem to mind the fresh wave of cultural revolution in Colorado as he said, “What you focus on these days may not be what I would have focused on the dates in the past. And so I think that, no matter what, Colorado needed a jump start, and no one could have got it. No one could have put us in this position as a Deion Sanders.”

Coach Barnett was proud that after the last National Championship that Colorado had won in 1991, Deion Sanders had finally made them a household name once again. This has helped Sanders make recruit a good staff at CU. Now all that Deion Sanders needs to do to get the ultimate approval from former coach Barnett would be to make the best out of what he has and to redeem their previous season’s 4-8 score this season. While that would only be decided in the regular season, Prime has already done something big.

The ‘Prime effect’ of Deion Sanders is on full display right now, as Colorado is on cloud nine with its soaring economy. Per Yahoo Sports, from six home games during the Fall 2023 season, an estimated $113.2 million in economic impact was generated in the Boulder region. It was only natural for former head coach Barnett to praise Sanders.

All these numbers are expected to go much higher as the Prime Time craze is ever-increasing. Colorado has already sold out all their tickets, surging their revenue by almost $14 million. Looking at all the new changes going on in Colorado per the graduate assistant football coach, the expectation from him holding up his reputation on the field this season doesn’t look too far-fetched.
