Indiana scored the No. 1 pick for two consecutive seasons, and this time, they bagged the most hyped guard of all time. Before the draft, Clark told the Associated Press, “This is a dream, this is something I wrote down on a piece of paper when I was in, like, second grade. Get a basketball scholarship. Play in the WNBA. This is something I’ve always wanted to do.” After being announced as the No. 1 pick by the Fever, she went onstage to receive an Indiana jersey with No. 1.

Drafting this MVP could change the destiny of the Fever who missed the playoffs in seven straight seasons. Indiana HC Christie Sides said, “Caitlin is one of the most naturally gifted basketball players I have ever seen enter the WNBA from the college level… We can’t wait to bring her to Indiana and incorporate her into our locker room with a group ready to get back to the postseason.” Since 2015, the Fever hasn’t had a winning season and finished 13-27 last season. Hopefully, Clark’s arrival will change their drought history.
