Saban’s insight exposes the increased complexity of present-day college football. With the early signing period in play and with the need to secure commitments swiftly, it is followed by an exhausting task of rebuilding the roster after a coach has departed. In this regard, Saban commented, “The transition management in the roster is one of the challenging things you have to do. Especially when you have a change like this and this is not a normal change. Normally when you have a change its because the program was unsuccessful and you are waiting for somebody to fix it. This is unprecedented in a way.”
Alabama had sustained success for more than 20 years under Saban’s leadership and as a result of this, the coaching transition stood out way more than it did with other football programs. This coming season will definitely be a massive struggle for both the Wolverines and the Crimson Tide after massive changes in both the playing and coaching roster.
