Despite being retired from football, Tom Brady remains actively engaged in new ventures, recently acquiring ownership of a team in the inaugural season of the UIM E1 World Championship. This competition, centered on electric race boats, is set to kick off in early 2024. 

Brady joins an illustrious group of team owners, including tennis icon Rafael Nadal, soccer legend Didier Drogba, and Formula One driver Sergio Perez. The first race is scheduled to unfold in Jeddah, a resort city in Saudi Arabia, adding an electrifying dimension to Brady’s diverse portfolio of post-football pursuits.

Brady and Drogba join the starstudded UIM E1 World Championship

Tom Brady’s recent ownership stake in a team for the inaugural UIM E1 World Championship has garnered praise from Rodi Basso, the co-founder and CEO of the UIM E1 World Championship. Basso expressed admiration for Brady’s commitment to leaving a positive impact and inspiring the next generation, aligning with the championship’s emphasis on sustainability and social impact. 

Brady’s enthusiasm for the design, technology, and performance of the RaceBirds, coupled with his passion for the planned Acceleration Festivals showcasing clean tech innovations, resonates with the championship’s principles. Football legend Didier Drogba and partner Gabrielle LeMaire are set to join the UIM E1 World Championship as new team owners. Drogba, celebrated for his illustrious career with Chelsea and other prominent clubs, will introduce his team, Team Drogba, under the Ivory Coast flag for the championship’s inaugural all-electric race boat season. This move adds to the roster of celebrity team owners looking forward to competing against each other.

UIM E1 World Championship teams to look out for 

The debut of the E1 World Championship features eight teams, with the recent addition of Team Brazil owned by Bolivian-American tech entrepreneur Marcelo Claure. Drivers Timmy Hansen and Catie Munnings will represent Team Brazil in the seven-event season, spanning Jeddah, Europe, and concluding in Hong Kong. Claure, joining high-profile team owners like Tom Brady and Rafa Nadal, expresses excitement about E1’s impact on powersports, emphasizing sustainability and innovation. Team Miami, led by Erik Stark and Anna Glennon, represents Marc Anthony.
